Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan motivasi belajar siswa pada implementasi model pembelajaran kooperatif tutor sebaya menggunakan pendekatan problem solving. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian campuran (mix method) dengan strategi Eksplanatoris Sekuensial dengan pre-test post-test nonequivalent control group design. Partisipan yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini adalah 68 siswa kelas X SMK di kota Bandung, yaitu 34 sampel kelas eksperimen dan 34 sampel kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi tes tertulis, angket, pedoman observasi dan pedoman wawancara. Peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan motivasi belajar siswa dihitung menggunakan rumus N-Gain. Perbedaan dua nilai rata rata dihitung menggunakan uji t pada taraf signifikansi  = 0,05, sedangkan hubungan antara kemampuan kognitif dengan motivasi belajar menggunakan rumus korelasi Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan motivasi belajar kelas eksperimen berbeda secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan peningkatan kelas kontrol pada taraf siignifikan  = 0,05. Peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan motivasi belajar kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas control. Selain itu, dari hasil analisis korelasi terdapat hubungan antara peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dengan motivasi belajar siswa kelas eksperimen (r = 0,77), katagori korelasi kuat. Berdasarkan respon siswa terhadap hasil angket menunjukan bahwa dengan adanya tutor sangat membantu dalam memahami konsep konsep yang sulit, dimana terjadi kerjasama antara tutor dengan tute dalam memecahkan masalah. Selanjutnya siswa berpendapat bahwa dengan memahami dan bisa mengatasi kesulitan tadi menambah minat dan motivasi belajar.---- This study aims to determine the improvement of cognitive ability and learning motivation of learners on the implementation of cooperative learning model of peer-tutoring by using problem-solving approach. The research method used is mix method of Sequential Explanatory strategy and pretest post-test nonequivalent control group design. The participants involved in this study were 68 grade 10 students of Vocational High School in Bandung that consisted of 34 samples of experimental class and 34 samples of control class. The instruments used include written test, questionnaires, and observation guides and interview guides. The improvement of cognitive ability and learning motivation of learners was calculated using the N-Gain formula. Differences of two average scores were calculated using t-Test at significant level of  = 0,05. while the relationship between cognitive ability with learning motivation using Pearson's correlation formula. The result of study shows that the improvement of cognitive ability and learning motivation in experimental class was significantly different compared to the improvement in the control class at significant level of  = 0,05. Cognitive ability and learning motivation improvement in experimental class is higher than in control class. In addition, from the results of correlation analysis there is a relationship between the improvement of cognitive ability with learning motivation of experimental class students (r = 0.77) strong categorization category. Based on the students' responses to the questionnaire results indicated that with the tutor is very helpful in understanding the concept of a difficult concept, where there is cooperation between the tutor and tute in solving the problem. Further learners argue that by understanding and overcoming these difficulties add interest and motivation to learn.
