    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh gesture guru terhadap pemahaman siswa berdasarkan jenis gaya belajar yang berbeda khususnya pada materi gametogenesis yang didalamnya terdapat konsep tentang pembelahan sel. Banyak penelitian yang telah menemukan fakta bahwa gesture berperan dalam proses penyampaian suatu informasi. Sudah banyak pula penelitian yang mencari tahu bagaimana gesture berperan dalam proses pembelajaran. Namun penelitian mengenai pengaruh gesture terhadap pemahaman siswa berdasarkan perbedaan gaya belajar masih belum ditemukan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan harapan dapat memberikan informasi tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi experimental design. Sebanyak 60 orang responden yang berasal dari dua kelas IPA di salah satu Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) di Kabupaten Bandung Barat telah dipilih secara acak. Untuk mengetahui profil gaya belajarnya, responden diberikan The VARK (Visual, Auditori, Read/Write and Kinestetik) questionnaire version 7.8, dan untuk mengukur pemahamannya, responden diberikan soal pre-test dan post-test. Pembelajaran diberikan di kelas kontrol dan eksperimen. Pembelajaran yang berbeda dilakukan di kelas eksperimen, yaitu dengan pemberian representasional gesture. Hasil analisis statistik menggunakan independent t-test menunjukan bahwa nilai sig.(2-tailed) = 0,001, α = 0,05. Maka terdapat perbedaan nilai yang signifikan antara hasil post-test kelas kontrol dengan kelas eksperimen (sig.(2-tailed) < α). Berdasarkan hasil analisis kecenderungan, kelompok gaya belajar reading memiliki kecenderungan nilai yang paling baik dibandingkan dengan gaya belajar yang lain.;---This study aims to determine the effect of teacher's gesture on the students's comprehension based on different types of learning styles, especially on gametogenesis in which there is a concept of cell division. Many studies have found that gestures play a role in the delivery of information. There was many studies that figured out how gestures play a role in the learning process. However, research that concerning the effect of gesture on the students's comprehension based on different learning styles has not been found. Therefore, this study was conducted in the hope of providing such information. The research method used in this research is quasi experimental design. A total of 60 respondents from two science classes at one high school in West Bandung regency. have been selected randomly. To find out the learning style profile, respondents were given The VARK (Visual, Auditory, Read/ Write and Kinesthetic) questionnaire version 7.8, and to measure their understanding, respondents were given pre-test and post-test questions. Learning process is given in control class and experimental class. Different learning process is given in the experimental class, by giving representational gestures. Statistical analysis using independent t-test showed that the sig.(2-tailed) value = 0.001, α = 0.05. Then there is a significant value difference between the post-test results of the control class and the experimental class (sig.(2-tailed) < α). Based on the results of trend analysis, the reading group of learning style has the best value trends than other learning styles.
