Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang berjudul “Penerapan Pendekatan Kontekstual untuk Meningkatkan Pemahaman Konsep Matematis Siswa Kelas IV Sekolah Dasar”. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas IV Salah satu SDN di Kota Bandung pada pokok bahasan data dan diagram. PTK ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) pelaksanaan pendekatan kontekstual dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas IV SD; dan mengetahui (2) peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas IV SD melalui pendekatan kontekstual. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model penelitian Kemmis Mc Taggart sebanyak dua siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data antara lain dengan lembar observasi dan lembar tes selama tindakan dan dokumentasi kegiatan pembelajaran. Subjek penelitian adalah kelas IVC yang berjumlah 37 orang terdiri dari 25 siswa perempuan dan 12 siswa laki-laki, dilaksanakan pada tahun ajaran 2016-2017. Proses pembelajaran dari siklus I ke siklus II meningkat dilihat dari aktivitas yang semakin kondusif dan antusias mengikuti pembelajaran. Adapun hasil penelitian terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dengan menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual telah menunjukkan peningkatan. Setelah melakukan pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual, peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematis dari siklus I sebesar 77% menjadi 93% pada siklus II. Dengan demikian pendekatan kontekstual dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar.;--- This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) entitled "Application of Contextual Approach to Increase Understanding Mathematical Concept of Grade IV Elementary School Students". This research is motivated by the problem of low understanding of mathematical concepts of fourth grade students One of the SDN in Bandung on the subject of data and diagrams. This PTK aims to describe (1) implementation of contextual approach in improving understanding of mathematical concept of fourth grade students of elementary school; And (2) improvement of understanding of mathematical concept of fourth grade students of SD through contextual approach. This research uses Classroom Action Research method (PTK) with Kemmis Mc Taggart research model as much as two cycles. Data collection techniques include, among others, the observation sheets and test sheets during the actions and documentation of learning activities. The subjects were IVC class which consisted of 37 students consisting of 25 female students and 12 male students, held in the academic year 2016-2017. The learning process from cycle I to cycle II increases seen from the more conducive and enthusiastic activity following the learning. The results of research on understanding mathematical concepts of students by using a contextual approach has shown improvement. After learning using contextual approach, the improvement of understanding of mathematical concept from cycle I was 77% to 93% in cycle II. Thus the contextual approach can improve the understanding of mathematical concepts of grade 4 elementary school students.
