Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi karena ditemukannya fakta lapangan tentang rendahnya kemampuan membuat model matematika siswa kelas VII Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penulis mencoba mengatasi rendahnya kemampuan membuat model matematika dengan pembelajaran model Discovery Learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah peningkatkan kemampuan membuat model matematika siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model Discovery Learning lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional dan untuk mengetahui sikap siswa terhadap pembelajaraan matematika dengan menggunakan model Discovery Learning. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian yaitu desain kelompok kontrol pretes-postes. Populasi yang diambil adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII di SMP Negeri 12 Bandung dengan sampel dua kelas dari kelas VII. Instrumen data kuantitatif yang digunakan adalah tes pretes dan postes kemampuan membuat model matematika. Sedangkan, instrumen data kualitatif didapatkan dari angket skala sikap siswa dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan membuat model matematika siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran Discovery Learning lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional dan hampir seluruh siswa menunjukkan sikap positif terhadap pembelajaran dengan model Discovery Learning.;---This research is motivated because of the fact finding field about the low ability to make mathematical model of VII Junior High School students (JHS). Based on this, the author tries to overcome the low ability to create mathematical models with learning model Discovery Learning. This study aims to determine whether the enhancement of the ability to create a mathematical model of students who obtain learning with the Discovery Learning model is higher than students who obtain conventional learning and to know the attitude of students to mathematics learning using the model of Discovery Learning. The method used in this research is quasi experiment with research design that is design of pretest-postes control group. The population taken is all students of class VII in SMP Negeri 12 Bandung with a sample of two classes of class VII. The quantitative data instruments used are the pretest and posttest tests of the ability to create mathematical models. While, the instrument of qualitative data obtained from questionnaire of attitude scale and observation sheet. The results showed that the improvement of the ability to make a mathematical model of students who obtained learning with the model of Discovery Learning is better than students who get learning with conventional learning and almost all students showed a positive attitude toward learning with the model of Discovery Learning.
