Abstract

Penelitian dilatar belakangi oleh asumsi yang menyatakan pentingnya penguasaan kecerdasan emosional. Konsep diri berkaitan erat dengan kecerdasan emosional. Individu yang memiliki kecerdasan emosional memiliki kemampuan dalam merasakan emosi, mengelola dan memanfaatkan emosi secara tepat sehingga memberikan kemudahan dalam menjalani kehidupan sebagai makhluk sosial. Secara umum penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui kontribusi konsep diri terhadap kecerdasan emosional siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lembang Tahun Ajaran 2015/2016. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan studi deskriptif dan desain penelitian korelasional. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik sampel jenuh. Sampel penelitian ditetapkan sebanyak 381 siswa yang merupakan keseluruhan dari jumlah populasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) terdapat kontribusi positif dan signifikan antara konsep diri dengan kecerdasan emosional. Meningkat atau menurunnya kecerdasan emosional siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lembang dipengaruhi oleh konsep diri, (2) secara umum siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lembang memiliki konsep diri positif, artinya siswa telah memiliki kesadaran mengenai diri sebagai identitas, pelaku dan penilai terhadap diri sendiri secara menyeluruh, (3) secara umum siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lembang memiliki tingkat kecerdasan emosional yang tinggi pada setiap aspeknya, artinya siswa telah memiliki kemampuan mengenali emosi diri, mengelola emosi, motivasi diri, mengenali emosi orang lain, dan membina hubungan, dan (4) implikasi penelitian berupa rancangan layanan dasar bimbingan dan konseling untuk memfasilitasi siswa dalam mengembangkan konsep diri positif dan peningkatan kecerdasan emosional. Kata kunci: Konsep Diri, Kecerdasan Emosional The background to the research is an assumption that states the importance of controling emotional intelligence. Self-concept is closely related to emotional intelligence. Individu who have emotional intelligence have the ability to feel, manage and utilize their emotions appropriately to provide them to life easiness as a social being. In general, the research aims to find the contribution of self concept to emotional intelligence of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lembang Academic Year 2015/2016. The research adopted quantitative approach with descriptive study, and employing correlational statistical design. A number of 381 students were taken from the population as sample with saturation sampling technique based on whole sample of population. The research approach using a quantitative to the study of descriptive, correlational statistical design. Sampling using saturation sampling technique. Based on the criteria, the sample set as much as 381 students from whole population. Research results show that (1) self concept contributed positively and significantly to emotional intelligence, the improvement or decline in emotional intelligence of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lembang is influenced by self concept, (2) almost all of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lembang have positive self concept, which mean the student has self awareness as identity, behaviour and judging to their self thoroughly, (3) almost all of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lembang have a high level of emotional intelligence on every aspect, which mean the students has the ability to knowing their emotions, managing their own emotions, motivating themself, recognising and understanding other people's emotions, and managing relationships, and (4) the implication of this research is in the form of a basic guidance and counseling service design to facilitate in develop a positive self concept and increase emotional intelligence..
