    Abstract

    Penelitian yang dilaksanakan di salah satu sekolah menengah atas negeri di kota Bandung ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa menggunakan praktikum berbasis fenetik dan praktikum berbasis verifikasi pada subkonsep Arthropoda. Metode yang digunakan adalah pre experiment. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara purposf. Perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis ini diukur melalui tes kemampuan berpikir kritis pada awal dan akhir pembelajaran dan dilihat peningkatannya melalui N-gain. Hasil tes dibandingkan dengan menggunakan softwere program SPSS statistic 16. Setelah pembelajaran siswa diberikan angket untuk mengetahui tanggapan siswa terhadap masing-masing pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktikum berbasis fenetik dan praktikum berbasis verifikasi memberikan pengaruh terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di kelas yang menggunakan praktikum verifikasi mengalami peningkatan lebih tinggi (0,6) dibandingkan dengan kelas fenetik (0,51), namun keduanya berada dalam kategori sedang. Perbedaan peningkatan ini terjadi karena praktikum berbasis fenetik merupakan hal yang baru bagi siswa dengan langkah-langkah analisis fenetik yang cukup rumit serta siswa banyak menemukan konsep dan istilah baru sehingga sangat wajar jika siswa mengalami kebingungan. Berbeda halnya dengan kelas verifikasi yang langkah praktikumnya cukup sederhana dan tidak rumit karena telah terbiasa dilakukan oleh siswa pada praktikum mata pelajaran IPA. Hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan praktikum berbasis fenetik dan verifikasi pada materi subkonsep Arthropoda memberikan respon positif karena mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Adanya perubahan terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan menggunanakan pembelajaran ini, diharapkan keduanya mampu menjadi salah satu pilihan alternatif yang mampu mengoptimalkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa;--- The study was held in one of high school in Bandung which purposed to analyze the comparison increase students’ critical thinking ability on Arthropods subs concepts through phenetic lab-based and verification lab-based learning. It used pre-experiment methods by using purposive sampling technique. The differences increase of critical thinking ability were measured by critical thinking ability test in the beginning and the end of learning process then its increasing was seen by N-gain. The result was compared with SPSS statistic 16 software. After the learning process, students got questionnaire to analyze students’ response on both learning process. The result showed that phenetic lab-based and verification lab-based gave effect on students’ critical thinking ability. Critical thinking ability of students in the class using the verification lab has increased higher (0.6) than the class phenetic (0.51), but both are in the medium category. The difference this increase occurred because the phenetic lab-based is a new thing for students with analysis steps phenetic quite complicated and many students discover new concepts and terms so it is natural that students are confused. Unlike with class verification the step is quite simple and not complicated because it has been accustomed to be done by students on practical science subjects. The result of questionnaire shows that the using of phenetic lab-based and verification lab-based on Arthropods subs stance gave positive response because it can increase students’ critical thinking ability. These changes of critical thinking ability on this learning process are expected to be the alternatives that optimize students’ critical thinking ability.
