Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar IPA terpadu tema cahaya dan warna (IT-CW) menggunakan 4 Steps Teaching Material Development (4S TMD), serta mengetahui kelayakan, keterbacaan, dan efektivitas dari bahan ajar IT-CW untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif serta korelasi kualitas pembacaan bahan ajar IT-CW yang dilihat dari nilai rangkuman terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan dengan subjek penelitian yakni siswa kelas VIII sebanyak satu kelas. Berdasarkan hasil uji kelayakan yang ditinjau dari komponen kelayakan isi, kebahasaan, penyajian dan kegrafikan, bahan ajar IT-CW dinilai telah sesuai dan layak untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran IPA SMP dengan persentase kelayakan sebesar 90%. Keterbacaan bahan ajar IT-CW secara keseluruhan termasuk kategori mudah dengan persentase siswa yang menilai mudah sebesar 68% dan indeks kesukaran sebesar 60% yang tergolong kategori sedang. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba, bahan ajar IT-CW efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif siswa, hal ini terlihat dari nilai N-gain yang diperoleh yakni sebesar 0,69 dengan kategori sedang, serta ukurang pengaruh sebesar 7,47 dengan kategori berefek besar. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba, korelasi antara nilai rangkuman dengan kemampuan kognitif siswa bernilai positif yakni sebesar 0,641, artinya jika nilai rangkuman tinggi maka nilai kemampuan kognitif siswa juga tinggi. Kata Kunci: 4S TMD, Bahan Ajar, Efektivitas, IPA Terpadu, Kelayakan, Keterbacaan, Korelasi, Pembelajaran IPA The purpose of this study is to developing integrated science teaching materials using 4 Steps Teaching Materials Development (4S TMD) that have light and color as a theme, and to determine feasibility, readability, and effectiveness of IT-CW teaching material in increasing cognitive abilities as well as correlation between quality of reading IT-CW teaching material and cognitive abilities. This study has been conducted in Junior High School which is located in Sumedang. Subject of this research and development is one class from second-year class. Feasibility test which is consist of content feasibility, parts of speech, presentation and graphics showed that IT-CW teaching material was appropriate to be used in science learning in junior high school (90%). IT-CW teaching material’s readability was easy, 68% students voted that IT-CW teaching material was easy to read. IT-CW teaching material was effective in increasing student’s cognitive abilities (N gain = 0,69, Effect size = 7,47). There is correlation between quality of reading IT-CW teaching material and cognitive abilities (r = 0,641).
