Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa setelah mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model discovery learning dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa setelah mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model problem based learning. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis anatara siswa yang mendapatkan model discovery learning dengan model problem based learning. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII di salah satu sekolah menengah pertama di kabupaten Bandung Barat. Sampelnya adalah siswa kelas VII B sebagai kelas eksperimen 1 dan siswa kelas VII C sebagai kelas eksperimen 2 yang masing-masing berjumlah 35 orang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Two Group Post Test Only. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah soal postes tentang pemecahan masalah matematis. Berdasarkan temuan dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa, terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara siswa yang mendapatkan model discovery learning dengan model problem based learning. Walaupun demikian, kualifikasi kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model discovery learning maupun siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model problem based learning, keduanya termasuk kategori sedang. This research is aimed to investigate the students’ problem solving competency after learn by using discovery learning model and students’ problem solving ability after learn by using problem based learning model. Therefore, this research is aimed to investigate the difference problem solving ability of mathematics between students who get discovery learning model and problem based learning model. The population used in this research was student in grade VII in one of junior high school in West Bandung Regency. The sample was student class VII B as the first experiment class and VII C as the second experiment class with 35 students in every class. The method in this research was quasi experiment by using two group post test only design. The instrument in this research is post-test about problem solving of mathematics. Based on the research, it can be conclude that, there is a difference between the mathematical problem solving competency of students who gets discovery learning model and problem based learning model. Nevertheless, the qualification of problem solving competency between of students who gets discovery learning model and problem based learning model, are including medium category.
