Abstract
Penelitian ini merupakan suatu penelitian desain (design research) tentang pengembangan bahan ajar melalui pendekatan kontruktivisme untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP pada materi kubus dan balok. Masalah yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini salah satunya adalah kesulitan belajar siswa yang dialami berkaitan dengan mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis pada materi kubus dan balok. Oleh karena itu, guru perlu mengembangkan bahan ajar sebagai alterrnatif solusi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis dalam memahami materi ini. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui bentuk tugas-tugas yang dapat memfasilitasi kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa melalui pendekatan konstruktivisme siswa SMP. Penelitian desain ini terdiri dari tiga fase yaitu preliminary first design, experiment, dan retrospective analysis. Adapun yang yang menjadi subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 6 Bandung. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa bentuk tugas-tugas yang disajikan adalah tugas berupa bahan ajar yang dapat memberikan kesempatan siswa menggambar jaring-jaring kubus dan balok yang selanjutnya membantu siswa dalam menemukan rumus luas permukaan kubus dan balok, serta menyelesaikan masalah yang berkaitan dengan indikator komunikasi matematis dalam berbagai macam permasalahan luas permukaan kubus dan balok. Tugas selanjutnya adalah tugas berupa bahan ajar yang dapat memberikan kesempatan siswa mengisi tugas menemukan hubungan panjang, lebar dan tinggi dalam bentuk tabel yang selanjutnya membantu siswa dalam menemukan rumus volume kubus dan balok, serta menyelesaikan masalah yang berkaitan dengan indikator komunikasi matematis dalam berbagai macam permasalahan volume kubus dan balok. This study is a design research in regards to the development of teaching materials through a constructivism approach in order to enhance the ability of junior high school students' mathematical communication on cubes and cuboids material. One of the issues underlying this study is students’ learning difficulty in developing mathematical communication abilty on the cubes and cuboids material. Therefore, teachers need to develop teaching materials as an alternative solution for the problem of mathematical communication ability in understanding the material. The purpose of this study is to determine the form of tasks that are able to facilitate students' mathematical communication skills through constructivism approach. The design research consisted of three phases, namely: first preliminary design, experiment, and retrospective analysis. The subject of the study was VIII grade of SMP Negeri 6 Bandung. Based on the results of study and discussion, it can be concluded that the form of the tasks presented is a task in form of teaching materials that can give students the opportunity to draw the nets of cubes and cuboids which further assist them in finding cubes and cuboids’ surfaces formulas, as well as resolve some issues related to the indicators of mathematical communication in a variety of problems in cubes and cuboids’ surface. The next task is a task that can give students the opportunity to perform the task of finding a relationship among length, width and height in the form of a table which further assist the students in finding a formula of cubes and blocks’ volume, as well as to resolve the issues related to the indicators of mathematical communication in a variety of problems in cubes and cuboids’ volume
