    Abstract

Information literacy is a crucial 21st-century skill that can be enhanced through innovative learning strategies. This study aims to examine the effect of the Reading Questioning Answering (RQA) strategy on students’ information literacy in Social Studies learning at SMP Negeri 59 Bandung. A quasi-experimental approach with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design was applied. The sample consisted of two Grade VIII classes: the experimental class (VIII D), which implemented the RQA strategy, and the control class (VIII E), which used conventional teaching methods. An information literacy questionnaire based on the Big6 model served as the research instrument. The findings revealed a significant difference in information literacy skills before and after the application of RQA in the experimental class, as well as a significant difference between the post-test results of the experimental and control classes. The RQA strategy effectively improved students’ information literacy by engaging them in reading, generating questions, and answering reflectively, which fostered independent conceptual understanding. These results support the constructivist learning theory and align with the Merdeka Curriculum that emphasizes the mastery of 21st-century skills.
