Abstract
Pemahaman konsep matematika pada peserta didik sekolah dasar, khususnya dalam penjumlahan pecahan dengan penyebut berbeda, membutuhkan pendekatan pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep. Pembelajaran dengan bantuan bahan ajar sangat penting untuk membantu memperjelas konsep. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik fase C yang menggunakan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) berbantuan bahan ajar PIPE dan yang tidak. Bahan ajar PIPE disusun berdasarkan kebutuhan peserta didik populasi dengan menyesuaikan capaian pembelajaran materi operasi penjumlahan pecahan penyebut berbeda dengan karakteristik peserta didik. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena melihat pembelajaran di kelas yang belum mengarahkan peserta didik untuk belajar dengan menggunakan bahan ajar dan pendekatan yang sesuai yang dapat membantu memahami konsep dengan baik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 62 peserta didik kelas VI dari dua sekolah dasar. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa tes. Hasil pretest dan posttest yang telah diolah akan dianalisis menggunakan uji Mann Whitney, Wilcoxon dan N-Gain. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dalam peningkatan pemahaman konsep antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen, dengan N-Gain kelas kontrol kategori rendah dan kategori sedang pada kelas eksperimen. Understanding mathematical concepts in elementary school students, especially adding fractions with different denominators, requires an effective learning approach to improve the ability to understand concepts. Learning with the help of teaching materials is very important to help clarify concepts. This research aims to determine the difference in increasing understanding of mathematics concepts for stage C students who use learning with the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach assisted by PIPE teaching materials and those who do not. PIPE teaching materials are prepared based on the needs of the student population by adapting the learning outcomes of material on operations for adding fractions with different denominators to the characteristics of the students. This research was conducted because we saw that classroom learning had not directed students to learn using appropriate teaching materials and approaches that could help them understand concepts well. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 62 grade VI students from two elementary schools. The instrument used in this research was a test. The pretest and posttest results that have been processed will be analyzed using the Mann Whitney, Wilcoxon and N-Gain tests. The results of the research showed that there was a significant difference in increasing understanding of concepts between the control class and the experimental class, with N-Gain in the control class being in the low category and in the medium category in the experimental class.
