Abstract

------------ This research evaluates the impact of the Cultural Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach on elementary students' attitudes towards language and Sundanese culture through reading instruction, comparing it with the Scientific Approach. A quasi-experimental design was employed using purposive random sampling from six elementary schools, with three classes applying CRT and three using the scientific approach. Data were collected through observation, surveys, and expert validation, and analyzed using SPSS. The findings reveal significant differences between pretest and posttest scores for language and Sundanese cultural attitudes in the experimental group, with a very strong correlation between CRT implementation and improved student attitudes. The results confirm that CRT enhances student engagement and motivation by relating learning material to their cultural context and show language and Sundanese cultural attitudes female students higher than male students. CRT was found to be more effective in fostering positive attitudes towards Sundanese language and culture compared to the Scientific Approach, highlighting the importance of cultural integration in teaching.
