Abstract

Limit fungsi aljabar adalah materi yang diajarkan pada jenjang kelas XI sekolah menengah atas. Materi limit fungsi aljabar mengharuskan siswa untuk berpikir abstrak dan memerlukan kemampuan penalaran konsep matematika yang baik, karena materi ini sebagai pondasi dasar untuk materi selanjutnya, yaitu turunan dan integral. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis kesalahan konsep limit fungsi aljabar dan faktor penyebab siswa melakukan kesalahan dalam pengerjaan soal limit fungsi aljabar dengan menggunakan metode Newman. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode penelitian studi kasus. Subjek penelitian yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini adalah 40 siswa kelas XI IPA 3 di salah satu SMA negeri di Kabupaten Sukabumi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal limit fungsi aljabar tergolong pada kategori kurang baik dengan nilai rata-rata 64 dari 100. Siswa juga melakukan kesalahan yang beragam saat menyelesaikan soal limit fungsi aljabar. Kesalahan yang paling banyak ditemukan yaitu pada kesalahan transformasi. Faktor penyebab siswa melakukan kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan soal limit fungsi aljabar adalah : (1) kurangnya pemahaman konsep limit fungsi aljabar, (2) kurangnya pemahaman terhadap materi prasyarat, (3) ketidaktelitian dalam penyelesaian soal, (4) kurangnya motivasi dan antusias siswa dalam pembelajaran, (5) kurangnya interaksi antara siswa dengan guru saat pembelajaran berlangsung, (6) lingkungan keluarga dan sekitar yang tidak nyaman untuk belajar.

The functional limit of algebra is the material taught at grade XI high school level. The limitations of the algebraic function of the material require students to think abstractly and require good mathematical concept reasoning skills, because this material is the basic foundation for the next material, namely derivatives and integrals. This study aims to describe the types of student error in the concept of the limit of the algebraic function and the factors that cause students to make mistakes in working on the limit of algebraic functions using newman error analysis. This research belongs to the type of qualitative approach with case study method. Research subjects involved in this study were 40 students of grade XI IPA 3 at one of the senior high school at district Sukabumi. The research results show that students' ability to solve algebraic function limit questions classified as low level with an average score of 64 out of 100. Students also made various mistakes when solving algebraic function limit questions. The most errors mistake being transformation errors. The factors that cause students to make mistakes in solving algebraic function limit questions are: (1) lack of understanding of the concept of limit algebraic functions, ((2) lack of understanding of prerequisite material, (3) students often make carelessness, (4) students' motivation and enthusiasm in the learning process is still weak; (5) lack of interaction between students and teachers during learning, (6) uncomfortable family environment and surrounding.
