Abstract

Guru Pendidikan Agama Islam memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam menginternalisasikan nilai-nilai toleransi dan moderasi beragama di kalangan siswa dan masyarakat. Namun, realitanya sebagian guru Pendidikan Agama Islam kurang dapat memahami hal teresebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tingkat moderasi beragama guru Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di SMA dan SMK di Kabupaten Sijunjung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Tiga aspek utama yang diteliti adalah moderasi beragama guru PAI terhadap mazhab Islam minoritas, moderasi beragama guru PAI terhadap agama lain, dan moderasi beragama guru PAI terhadap budaya lokal (Budaya Alam Minangkabau). Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa mayoritas guru PAI cenderung memiliki sikap condrong moderat dalam beragama. Sedangkan sikap moderat lebih dominan terlihat pada moderasi beragama guru PAI terhadap budaya lokal Budaya Alam Minangkabau (BAM). Akan tetapi, sebagian guru PAI juga menunjukkan tingkat intoleransi yang dominan dalam moderasi beragama terhadap mazhab Islam minoritas dan agama lain. Mereka cenderung menganggap bahwa hanya Muslim Sunni yang mengikuti ajaran Islam dengan benar, sementara melihat mazhab minoritas seperti Syiah dan Ahmadiyah sebagai sesat. Mereka sebagian juga menolak menolak usaha ritel seperti Alfamart dan Indomaret serta kalangan asing seperti cina/etnis dari luar untuk membuka usaha wilayah Minangkabau. Penelitian ini mengindikasikan perlunya upaya sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pengembangan pemahaman moderasi beragama di kalangan guru PAI. Tujuannya adalah agar mereka dapat lebih memahami dan menginternalisasikan nilai-nilai toleransi, menghargai perbedaan, dan menjaga sikap moderat dalam beragama dan berbudaya. Islamic Education (IE) teachers play a crucial role in internalizing tolerance and religious moderation values among students and the community. However, it turns out that some Islamic religious education teachers do not fully understand that matter. This research aims to assess the level of religious moderation among IE teachers in senior and vocational schools in Sijunjung Regency. The research method employed was quantitative descriptive, with data collection conducted through questionnaires. The study focuses on three main aspects: the religious moderation of IE teachers towards the minority of Islamic madhhabs, their moderation towards other religions, and their moderation towards the local culture (Budaya Alam Minangkabau). The results revealed that the majority of IE teachers tended to have a moderate attitude towards religions. This moderate attitude was predominantly seen in their religious moderation towards the Budaya Alam Minangkabau (BAM). However, some IE teachers also exhibited a dominant level of intolerance in their religious moderation towards the minority of Islamic madhhabs and other religions. They tended to view only Sunni Muslims as following Islam correctly while perceiving the madhhabs of minority such as Shia and Ahmadiyya as deviant. Additionally, some teachers rejected the establishment of retail businesses including Alfamart, Indomaret and foreign individuals, such as Chinese or other ethnic groups, from opening businesses in the Minangkabau area. This research suggests the importance of socialization, training, and the development of religious moderation understanding among IE teachers. The aim is to enhance their comprehension, promote respect for diversity, and encourage a moderate approach to religion and culture.
