Abstract

Kemampuan membaca pemahaman merupakan salah satu aspek keterampilan berbahasa yang memegang peranan penting dalam sebuah kegiatan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini di latar belakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa yang disebabkan oleh penggunaan media pembelajaran yang kurang bervariasi serta masih menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan perencanaan, proses, dan peningkatan membaca pemahaman teks dongeng siswa kelas III Sekolah Dasar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan desain penelitian Kemmis & Mc Taggart. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak dua siklus dengan subjek penelitian 15 orang siswa. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, catatan lapangan, tes, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan secara 3 tahap yaitu reduksi data, paparan data, dan penyimpulan data. Data kuantitatif dengan menghitung nilai hasil membaca pemahaman, rata-rata nilai, dan ketuntasan belajar siswa. Dari hasil tes dan analisis observasi setiap siklus menunjukkan perkembangan positif terhadap pembelajaran dengan penggunaan kartu gambar berseri. Rata-rata nilai yang diperolah pada siklus I sebesar 81 siklus II meningkat menjadi 86. Sedangkan peningkatan ketuntasan belajar pada siklus I sebesar 67% dan meningkat pada siklus II sebesar 80%. Berdasarkan hasil peningkatan tersebut, bahwa penggunaan kartu gambar berseri dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman pada siswa kelas III Sekolah Dasar. The ability to read comprehension is one aspect of language skills that plays an important role in a learning activity. This research is motivated by the low reading comprehension ability of students caused by the use of learning media that is less varied and still uses conventional learning. The purpose of this study was to describe the planning, process, and improvement of reading comprehension of fairy tale texts for third grade elementary school students. The research method used is the class action research method (PTK) with the Kemmis & Mc Taggart research design. This research was conducted in two cycles with 15 students as research subjects. Data obtained through observation, interviews, field notes, tests, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out in 3 stages, namely data reduction, data exposure, and data inference. Quantitative data by calculating the results of reading comprehension, average scores, and student learning completeness. From the test results and observation analysis each cycle shows positive developments in learning by using serial picture cards. The average value obtained in cycle I was 81 in cycle II increased to 86. Meanwhile, the increase in mastery learning in cycle I was 67% and increased in cycle II by 80%. Based on the results of this increase, that the use of serial picture cards can improve reading comprehension skills in class III elementary school students.
