Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kurangnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman artikel siswa kelas VIII A SMPN 12 Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi DRTA dalam membaca pemahaman artikel. Métode yang digunakan adalah studi kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan desain penelitian one group pre-test post-test. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah test kepada siswa kelas VIII A SMPN 12 Kota Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2022/2023 yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan: (1) kemampuan membaca pemahaman artikel sebelum menggunakan stratégi Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) tergolong sedang dengan rata-rata nilai 59,9; (2) kemampuan membaca pemahaman artikel sesudah menggunakan stratégi Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) tergolong sangat bagus dengan rata-rata nilai 89,3; (3) aspek yang paling meningkat sesudah menggunakan stratégi Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) adalah aspek struktur; dan (4) berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis atau uji t, yaitu nilai signifikansinya Sig.=0,000 < 0,05, Ha diterima atau Ho ditolak. Artinya ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan stratégi Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa stratégi Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) mampu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas VIII A SMPN 12 Kota Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2022/2023. The background of this research is the lack of reading comprehension ability for class VIII A students of SMPN 12 Bandung City. This study aims to describe DRTA strategy in reading comprehension of articles. The method used is a quasi-experimental study using a one group pre-test post-test research design. The data collection technique used was a test on class VIII A students of SMPN 12 Bandung City for the 2022/2023 Academic Year, a total of 32 students. Based on the results of the study, it was found: (1) the ability to read comprehension of articles before using the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy was classified as not complete with an average score of 59.9; (2) the ability to read comprehension of articles after using the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy is classified as complete with an average score of 89.3; (3) the aspect that has increased the most after using the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy is the structural aspect; and (4) based on the results of the hypothesis test or t test, a significance value Sig.=0.000 <0, 05, Ha is accepted or Ho is rejected, meaning that there is a significant difference between students' reading comprehension ability before and after using the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy can improve reading comprehension skills class VIII A students of SMPN 12 Bandung City for the 2022/2023 Academic Year.
