Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya kemampuan menulis karangan narasi siswa kelas IV yang disebabkan siswa kesulitan untuk mengungkapkan ide-ide dalam pikiran dan struktur penulisan karangan narasi masih belum teratur. Media mind mapping berbantuan aplikasi Canva ini diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi dari masalah tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui pengaruh kemampuan menulis karangan narasi yang mendapatkan penerapan media mind mapping berbantuan aplikasi Canva lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan media flashcard. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis kuasi eksperimen dengan bentuk non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design di salah satu SDN di Kabupaten Bandung. Sampel penelitian ini ialah siswa kelas IVC sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas IV-D sebagai kelas kontrol yang masing-masing sampel berjumlah 20 siswa. Instrumen tes kemampuan menulis karangan narasi digunakan untuk memperoleh data kuantitatif pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukkan: 1) Media mind mapping berbantuan aplikasi Canva berpengaruh dalam menulis karangan narasi siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Hasil pre-test dan post-test serta pemberian treatment menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media mind mapping terbukti memberikan pengaruh pada kemampuan menulis karangan narasi. Hal ini terbukti dari nilai ratarata pre-test yakni 68,00 dan setelah diberikan treatment, nilai rata-rata post-test mengalami kenaikan yakni 80,25 sehingga rata-rata nilai siswa di kelas eksperimen mengalami peningkatan sebesar 12,25 maka dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pada kemampuan menulis karangan narasi siswa kelas IV setelah memperoleh pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media mind mapping berbantuan aplikasi Canva. 2) Terdapat perbedaan antara kemampuan menulis karangan narasi antara siswa kelas IV yang menggunakan media mind mapping berbantuan aplikasi Canva dengan siswa kelas IV yang menggunakan media flashcard. Hasil uji perbedaan rerata telah menunjukkan bahwa presentase skor post-test siswa di kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol memperoleh hasil yang berbeda. Hasil analisis uji perbedaan rerata post-test kelas eksperimen dan post-test kelas kontrol menunjukkan hasil rata-rata yang lebih tinggi di kelas eksperimen dengan nilai 80,25, sementara di kelas kontrol nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh lebih rendah yakni 69,00 sehingga hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa media mind mapping berbantuan aplikasi Canva yang diterapkan di kelas eksperimen lebih efektif dan cocok diterapkan dalam pembelajaran menulis karangan narasi siswa kelas IV. ------ This research is motivated by the lack of narrative essay writing skills of fourth-grade students, which is caused by students struggling to express ideas in their minds and the narrative essay writing structure is still not well-organized. The use of Canva-assisted mind mapping media is expected to be a solution to this problem. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of using Canva-assisted mind mapping media on narrative essay writing skills compared to students who use flashcards as the media. This study employs a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design at one elementary school in Bandung Regency. The research sample consists of 20 students in Grade IV-C as the experimental group and 20 students in Grade IV-D as the control group. The instrument used to collect quantitative data includes pre-test and post-test narrative essay writing ability tests. The results obtained from the study are as follows: 1) Canva-assisted mind mapping media has an effect on the narrative essay writing skills of fourth-grade students. The pre-test and post-test results, along with the treatment, show that using mind mapping media has a positive impact on students' narrative essay writing skills. This is evident from the pre-test average score of 68.00 and the post-test average score after the treatment, which increased to 80.25. Thus, the average score of students in the experimental group increased by 12.25, leading to the conclusion that there is an influence on the narrative essay writing skills of fourth-grade students after learning with Canva-assisted mind mapping media. 2) There is a difference in narrative essay writing skills between fourth-grade students who use Canva-assisted mind mapping media and those who use flashcards. The results of the mean difference test show that the percentage of post-test scores for students in the experimental group and the control group differed. The analysis of the mean difference between the post-test scores of the experimental group and the control group revealed that the average score in the experimental group was higher with a score of 80.25, while the control group obtained a lower average score of 69.00. This indicates that Canva-assisted mind mapping media applied in the experimental group is more effective and suitable for teaching narrative essay writing to fourth-grade students.
