Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya kemampuan siswa sekolah dasar dalam memahami isi bacaan yang disebabkan oleh minat membaca siswa yang rendah serta bahan bacaan kurang menarik. Dengan demikian, perlu adanya perbaikan dalam pembelajaran mengenai membaca pemahaman. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan yakni dengan menggunakan media komik digital. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media komik digital terhadap keterampilan membaca pemahaman cerita siswa kelas IV SD dan untuk mengukur perbedaan pengaruh keterampilan membaca pemahaman cerita siswa antara yang menggunakan media komik digital dengan yang menggunakan media komik cetak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yakni kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yakni seluruh siswa kelas IV SD di SDN Percobaan dan SDN 09 Cibiru dengan sampel salah satu kelas IV dari masing-masing SD tersebut. Hasil analisis data pretest dan posttest kelas eksperimen menunjukkan adanya pengaruh penggunaan media komik digital terhadap keterampilan membaca pemahaman cerita siswa kelas IV SD. Nilai rata-rata pretest kelas eksperimen yakni 57,72 dan nilai rata-rata posttest kelas eksperimen yakni 67,44 sehingga rata-rata nilai siswa di kelas eksperimen mengalami peningkatan sebesar 9,72. Kemudian hasil analisis data dari kedua kelas penelitian yakni kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan pengaruh keterampilan membaca pemahaman antara siswa yang menggunakan media komik digital dan media komik cetak. ------ This research is motivated by the lack of ability of elementary school students in understanding reading content caused by students' low reading interest and less interesting reading material. Thus, there is a need for improvement in learning about reading comprehension. One effort that can be done is by using digital comic media. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using digital comic media on the reading comprehension skills of fourth grade elementary school students and to measure the difference in the influence of students' reading comprehension skills between those using digital comic media and those using printed comic media. The research method used is a quasi-experimental research design using a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all fourth grade students at Experimental Elementary School and Cibiru 09 Elementary School with a sample of one of the fourth graders from each of these elementary schools. The results of the pretest and posttest data analysis in the experimental class showed that there was an effect of using digital comic media on the reading comprehension skills of fourth grade elementary school students. The average pretest score of the experimental class was 57.72 and the average posttest score of the experimental class was 67.44 so that the average score of students in the experimental class increased by 9.72. Then the results of data analysis from the two research classes, namely the experimental class and the control class, showed that there was no difference in the effect of reading comprehension skills between students who used digital comic media and printed comic media.
