Abstract

Membaca merupakan kegiatan yang dilakukan untuk memperoleh informasi serta ilmu pengetahuan. Akan tetapi, Indeks Alibaca Nasional pada tahun 2019 menunjukkan minat membaca rendah dengan persentase sebesar 37,32%. Bahan bacaan serta sarana dan prasarana perpustakaan sekolah menjadi faktor yang memengaruhi minat membaca siswa SD. Siswa SD menyukai bacaan dalam bentuk cerita dan dapat belajar melalui gambar. Tujuan umum penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi minat membaca siswa SD di Kecamatan Cigandamekar terhadap buku cerita bergambar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian survei. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 135 siswa SD dan sembilan narasumber dari sembilan sekolah di Kecamatan Cigandamekar. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuesioner dan pedoman wawancara. Adapun analisis data menggunakan rumus perhitungan persentase. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dari data penelitian, menunjukkan bahwa minat membaca siswa SD terhadap koleksi buku cerita bergambar di perpustakaan sekolah tergolong tinggi dengan persentase sebesar 72%. Ragam cerita bergambar yang paling diminati siswa pada jenis fiksi adalah fabel, sedangkan pada jenis non-fiksi adalah kisah nyata. Faktor yang memengaruhi minat membaca siswa SD terhadap koleksi buku cerita bergambar di perpustakaan sekolah yakni a) faktor internal, meliputi perasaan, perhatian, dan motivasi, serta b) faktor eksternal, meliputi pengaruh lingkungan (teman, guru, dan orang tua), serta sarana dan prasarana. Pada penelitian ini, ditemukan bahwa hal yang membuat siswa menyenangi buku cerita bergambar adalah alur cerita yang mudah dipahami. Selain itu, siswa berminat membaca buku cerita bergambar karena keinginan sendiri, bukan dorongan dari orang tua, guru, dan teman. -------- Reading is an activity carried out to obtain information and knowledge. However, the National Alibaca Index in 2019 showed low interest in reading, with 37,32%. Reading materials, school library facilities, and infrastructure influence elementary students’ reading interest. Elementary students like reading in the form of stories and can learn through pictures. The general purpose of this research was to explore the reading interest of elementary school students in the Cigandamekar district toward picture story books. This research uses a quantitative approach with survey research methods. The sample in this research were 135 elementary school students and nine resource persons from nine schools in Cigandamekar District. The research instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. The data analysis uses the percentage calculation formula. The research data analysis shows that the reading interest of elementary school students in collecting picture story books in the school library is high, with a percentage of 72%. The variety of picture stories students are most interested in the fiction type is a fable, while in the non-fiction type, it is a true story. The factors that influence the reading interest of elementary school students towards the collection of picture story books in the school library are a) internal factors, including feelings, concerns, and motivations, and b) external factors, including environmental influences (friends, teachers, and parents), as well as facilities and infrastructure. This research found that the thing that made students enjoy picture story books was the easy-to-understand storyline. In addition, students are interested in reading picture story books because of their desires, not encouragement from parents, teachers, and friends.
