Abstract

Salah satu kemampuan yang harus dimiliki siswa dalam belajar adalah kemampuan pemahaman konsep. Begitu pula dalam pembelajaran matematika, kemampuan tersebut harus dimiliki siswa agar siswa memahami konsep yang sedang maupun telah dipelajari. Tujuan dari kemampuan pemahaman konsep sendiri adalah agar siswa dapat mengaitkan dari konsep satu ke konsep lainnya. Dengan mengetahui konsep yang baik, maka siswa akan merasa bahwa ia telah belajar bermakna. Faktanya, masih banyak siswa yang memiliki kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis yang rendah. Hal tersebut menjadi suatu masalah yang harus segera ditangani. Rendahnya kemampuan tersebut ternyata dapat menimbulkan dampak pada sikap siswa yaitu sikap kepercayaan diri (self confidence). Apabila siswa memiliki kemampuan pemahaman konsep yang tinggi, maka siswa akan lebih percaya diri terhadap dirinya dan sekitarnya. Kepercayaan diri pun perlu dilatih dengan berbagai cara. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui tingkat kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis dan kepercayaan diri siswa SD kelas III serta mencari korelasi antara variabel tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode korelasional yakni mencari keterhubungan antara satu variabel dan variabel lainnya. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu terdapat korelasi antara kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis dengan kepercayaan diri siswa sebesar 0,186. Dengan begitu dapat dikatakan bahwa korelasi antara variabel tersebut sangat lemah. One of the abilities that students must have in learning is the ability to understand concepts. Likewise in learning mathematics, these abilities must be possessed by students so that students understand the concepts that are being or have been learned. The purpose of the ability to understand the concept itself is so that students can link from one concept to another. By knowing a good concept, students will feel that they have learned meaningful. In fact, there are still many students who have low understanding of mathematical concepts. This is a problem that must be addressed immediately. This low ability can actually have an impact on students' attitudes, namely self-confidence. If students have high concept understanding skills, then students will be more confident in themselves and their surroundings. Self-confidence also needs to be trained in various ways. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of ability of understanding mathematical concepts and self-confidence of third grade elementary school students and to find a correlation between these variables. The research method used is the correlational method, which is looking for the relationship between one variable and another. The results of this study are that there is a correlation between the ability to understand mathematical concepts with student self-confidence of 0.186. Thus it can be said that the correlation between these variables is very weak.
