Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil observasi pada pembelajaran Tematik yang dilakukan di kelas IVC SDN Pangulah Selatan I Kecamatan Kota Baru Kabupaten Karawang. Dalam kegiatan pembelajaran peneliti menemukan bahwa masih kurangnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Beberapa siswa yang pasif menjadikan pembelajaran hanya bersifat satu arah. Hal-hal yang telah diungkapkan di atas harus ditingkatkan dengan menemukan pendekatan pembelajaran yang tepat. Salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran yang dirasakan mampu meningkatkan aktivitas belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa adalah dengan menerapkan model Problem Based Intruction. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui aktivitas belajar dan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan pelaksanaan tiga siklus. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 21 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa tes kemampuan berpikir kritis dan observasi. Temuan saat penelitian diantaranya 1) aktivitas belajar siswa meningkat pada setiap siklusnya, 2) kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa meningkat dengan standar KKM sebesar 70, pada siklus kesatu dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 70 presentase 24%, siklus kedua 38% dan pada siklus ketiga nilai rata-rata sebesar 81 dengan presentase 86%. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini yaitu adanya peningkatan aktivitas belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. This research is motivated by the results of thematic learning observations conducted in IVC class at SDN Pangulah Selatan I, Kota Baru, Karawang Regency. In learning activities, researchers find that there is still a lack of critical thinking skills possessed by students. Some students are passive making learning only one-way. The things that have been stated above must be improved by finding the right learning approach. One approach to learning that is felt to be able to improve learning activities and students' critical thinking skills is to apply the Problem Based Instruction model. The purpose of this research is to find out the learning activities and improvement of students' critical thinking skills in Thematic learning after applying the Problem Based Instruction approach. This type of research is Classroom Action Research, the study consisted of three cycles. The research subjects were 21 students. The instrument used in this study was a test of critical thinking skills and observation. Findings during the study include 1) student learning activities increase in each cycle, 2) students' critical thinking skills increase with a KKM standard of 70 with a percentage of 24%, the second cycle 38% and an increase in the third cycle with an average value of 81 with a percentage of 86%. The conclusion of this study is an increase in activity of learning and critical thinking skills of students.
