Abstract
Penelitian ini membahas tentang rendahnya kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I di SDN Jomin Timur 1 Kecamatan Kotabaru Karawang. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I di sekolah dasar. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, tes dan dokumentasi. Pemeriksaan keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi. Data dianalisis melalui langkah-langkah pengumpulan data seperti reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas I yaitu; AD, RH, dan MA memiliki kemampuan yang berbeda. AD memenuhi semua kriteria indikator yang ada dan termasuk tergolong baik. RH hanya beberapa kriteria indikator yang terpenuhi dan termasuk tergolong cukup. MA hanya beberapa kriteria indikator yang terpenuhi dan termasuk tergolong kurang karena menjawab soal dengan asal-asalan. Hasil simpulan berdasarkan observasi, wawancara dan tes siswa kelas I; AD, RH dan MA mengalami peningkatan atau perubahan dalam kemampuan membaca dimana dari yang membaca nya masih mengeja setelah diberikan tes membaca siswa mampu membaca dengan jelas setiap kata. This study discusses the low level of reading ability of first grade students at SDN Jomin Timur 1 Kotabaru District, Karawang. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability to read the beginning of class I students in primary schools. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, tests and documentation. Checking the validity of the data using triangulation. Data were analyzed through steps of data collection such as data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the first grade students namely; AD, RH, and MA have different abilities. AD fulfills all indicators of existing indicators and is classified as good. RH is only a number of indicator criteria that are met and are classified as sufficient. MA has only a few indicator criteria that are met and is classified as lacking because it answers questions carelessly. Conclusions based on observations, interviews and tests of class I students; AD, RH and MA have experienced an increase or change in reading ability where those who read it are still spelling after being given a reading test students are able to clearly read every word.
