    Abstract

    Penelitian ini disebabkan karena rendahnya kemampuan membaca permulaan peserta didik di kelas I SDN Panyingkiran Kidul 2, Kecamatan Cantigi, Kabupaten Indramayu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kesulitan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I SD Negeri Panyingkiran Kidul 2 dan mengetahui faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan kesulitan dalam membaca.
    Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan desain kualitatif dengan mengunakan metode studi kasus. Subjek dari penelitian ini 5 siswa kelas I SDN Panyingkiran Kidul 2 yang mengalami kesulitan membaca. Teknik pengumpulan data yang di gunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu observasi, wawancara, tes, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis data model interaktif yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan.
    Hasil penelitian Karakteristik kesulitan siswa dalam membaca permulaan yang ditemukan yaitu: kesulitan mengidentifikasi huruf dan merangkai susunan huruf, membalik huruf, mengubah kata, menghilangkan huruf dalam susunan kata, mengeja terbata-bata, mengucapkan kata salah, kurang memperhatikan tanda baca, tidak memahami isi bacaan, dan sulit konsentrasi dan faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan terhambatnya membaca yakni faktor psikologis dan lingkungan. Faktor psikologis, dari dalam diri siswa berupa kurang berminatnya dalam belajar membaca. faktor lingkungan berasal dari kurangnya motivasi dan bimbingan dari kedua orang tuanya dan pengalaman siswa di rumah seperti kurangnya media penunjang untuk belajar membaca.
    This research was due to the low ability to read the beginning of students in class I of Panyingkiran Kidul 2 Elementary School, Cantigi District, Indramayu Regency, which consisted in this study. This study aims to identify the difficulty of reading the beginning of class I students of Panyingkiran Kidul 2 Elementary School and find out the factors that cause reading difficulties.
    This type of research uses a qualitative design using the case study method. The subjects of this study were 5 grade I students of SDN Panyingkiran Kidul 2 who had difficulty reading. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. Data analysis techniques using interactive model data analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.
    Results of the study Characteristics of students' difficulties in reading the beginning were found, namely: difficulty identifying letters and arranging letters, turning letters, changing words, eliminating letters in word order, spelling stammer, saying wrong words, paying less attention to punctuation, not understanding the contents of reading , and difficulty concentrating and the factors that cause reading impediment are psychological and environmental factors. Psychological factors, from within students in the form of lack of interest in learning to read. environmental factors stem from the lack of motivation and guidance from both parents and the experience of students at home such as the lack of supporting media to learn to read.
