Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan karena masih kurangnya penggunaan media pembelajaran yang memberikan ruang bagi siswa untuk mengembangkan kreatifitas, khususnya keterampilan menulis kreatif. Tujuan dari dilakukannya penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis pengaruh dari penggunaan Storybird terhadap keterampilan menulis kreatif siswa pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Pendekatan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu pendekatan kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitiannya yaitu Control Group Design. Pengambilan data penelitian menggunakan instrumen berbentuk tes uraian yang berupa menulis narrative text. Pada penelitian ini, populasi yang dilibatkan adalah siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Margahayu. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 7 yang berjumlah 33 responden dan XI IPS 2 yang berjumlah 31 responden, yang diambil menggunakan metode cluster sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan keterampilan menulis kreatif yang lebih tinggi pada siswa kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan Storybird dibandingkan dengan siswa pada kelas kontrol. Hasil tersebut dapat dilihat dari perolehan skor gain kelas eksperimen yaitu 5,61, yang lebih tinggi daripada skor gain kelas kontrol yaitu 3,39. Dari hasil uji hipotesis, di dapat hasil berupa nilai thitung, 4,2221 lebih besar daripada nilai ttabel, 1,99897 (4,2221 > 1,99897), yang mengindikasikan bahwa penggunaan Storybird pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan keterampilan menulis kreatif siswa. Pengaruh tersebut terlihat dari meningkatnya perolehan skor siswa pada kelas eksperimen sesudah menggunakan Storybird pada aspek kebaruan, resolusi, dan gaya penulisan yang ditunjukkan dengan meningkatnya kemampuan berimajinasi dan berkreasi siswa dalam menulis cerita, meningkatnya pemahaman mengenai tujuan dan fungsi narrative text, serta meningkatnya keterampilan siswa dalam mengemas cerita. This research was conducted because there was still a lack in the use of learning media providing space for students to develop creativity, especially creative writing skills. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyse the effect of using Storybird on students’ cerative writing skills in English subject. The approach used in this study was a quantitative approach. This research used Quasi Experiment Research method with Control Group Design Research. The retrieval of research data used instruments in the form of descriptions test, which was writing narrative text. Population used in this research involved students of SMA Negeri 1 Margahayu. Samples in this research were taken using the cluster sampling method and samples were students of XI IPA 7 class consisting of 33 respondents and students of XI IPS 2 consisting of 31 respondents. The results show that there is a higher increase in creative writing skills of experiment class students who used Storybird compared to control class students. That result can be seen from the aqcuisition of gain score, experiment class with 5,61 is higher than control class with 3,39. From the hypothesis test result, obtained value of tcount which is 4,2221 and value of ttable which is 1,99897. Thus, the value of tcount that is 4,2221 is higher than the value of ttable that is 1,99897 (4,2221 > 1,99897), it indicates that the use of Storybird in English subjects has a significant influence on students’ creative writing skills. That influence is seen from the increase in students’ scores on novelty aspect, resolution aspect and style aspect after using Storybird as demonstrated by the increasing ability of student’s imagination and creation in writting stories, increasing of student’s understanding and insight of the objective and functions of narrative text, and increasing of student’s skill in wraping the story.
