Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya pemanfaataan google classroom sebagai sarana belajar dalam pembelajaran IPS pada kelas IX di SMP Negeri 7 Bandung. Pelaksanakan pembelajaran dengan memanfaatkan google classroom ini dilakukan dalam rangka membantu guru dan peserta didik sebagai penyedia sarana belajar dengan sistem e-learning dalam pembelajaran IPS. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana guru IPS memanfaatkan google classroom sebagai sarana belajar dalam pembelajaran IPS. Penelitian ini merupakan studi deskriptif kualitatif di kelas IX SMP Negeri 7 Bandung. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kegiatan wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil temuan peneliti menunjukan bahwa pemanfaatan google classroom yang dilakukan oleh guru dapat menjadi sarana belajar dalam pembelajaran IPS. Hal ini dapat ditunjukan dari fitur google classroom yang dijadikan sebagai sarana belajar oleh guru yaitu; 1) ruang kelas virtual sebagai penyedia ruang belajar IPS di kelas yaitu kelas IX A-IX G; 2) communication (komunikasi) membantu guru dalam memberikan materi dan bahan ajar IPS serta berkomunikasi dengan peserta didik tanpa dibatasi ruang dan waktu; 3) assignment (tugas) membantu guru dalam memberikan penugasan dan penilaian. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian, yaitu alasan guru memilih google classroom sebagai sarana belajar karena alokasi waktu, pertimbangan bahan ajar, tuntutan pembelajaran abad 21, visi sekolah dan fitur google classroom yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan belajar. Google classroom dimanfaatkan oleh guru pada aspek penyedia ruang belajar IPS, pemberi materi ajar dan sarana pemberian tugas dan penilaian. Adapun kendala yang dirasakan pada aspek biaya internet dan terhambatnya proses evaluasi. Kata Kunci :Google Classroom, Sarana Belajar, Pembelajaran IPS. ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the use of google classroom as a learning media of social studies education in the 9th grade of Junior High School 7 Bandung. The implementation of learning by using google classroom is conducted in order to help teachers and students as providers of learning facilities, with e-learning systems in social studies education. The purpose of this study is to describe how social studies teachers utilize google classroom as a learning media in that particular subject. This research is a qualitative descriptive study in the 9th grade of Junior High School 7 Bandung. The data collection techniques are carried out through interviews, observations and documentation studies. The research indicates that google classroom can be used by teachers as a learning media in social studies education. This can be seen from the features of google classroom; 1) virtual classroom - as the space provider for social studies education in classes (class IX A-IX G); 2) communication - helps teachers in providing social studies education’s materials, as well as communicating with students without being limited by space and time; 3) assignment - which helps teachers in giving assignments and assessments. The conclusion from the results of the research, which is the reason why the teachers chose google classroom as a learning media because of the time allocation, consideration of teaching materials, the learning demands of the 21st century, school’s vision, as well as google classroom features which suit the learning needs. Google classroom is used by teachers in aspects of being the space provider for social studies education, as well as being the provider of teaching materials and facilities for assignments and assessments. As for the difficulties, the examples are such as on the aspects of internet costs and delay in the evaluation process. Keywords: Google Classroom, Learning Media, Social Studies Education.
