Abstract
Tujuan dari pendidikan sains adalah agar siswa memiliki kesadaran tentang literasi sains yang diwujudkan melalui pemahaman Nature of Science (NOS) sebab inti dari literasi sains adalah hakikat sains. Salah satu faktor penyebab rendahnya kemampuan berliterasi sains anak Indonesia berhubungan dengan bagaimana NOS disajikan di dalam buku teks sains yang digunakan di sekolah, apakah itu sudah secara eksplisit atau masih implisit. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis isi (content analysis). Sumber data berasal dari buku teks fisika SMA kelas X. Variabel dalam penelitian adalah sepuluh aspek NOS menurut Abd el-Khalick. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buku A, B dan C yang diteliti memperoleh skor berturut-turut yaitu 19, 11, dan 14 dari skor yang diharapkan 30 untuk buku teks yang memuat sepuluh aspek NOS secara eksplisit, benar, konsisten, dan lengkap. Berdasarkan perolehan skor tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ketiga buku teks fisika yang dianalisis belum menyampaikan aspek-aspek NOS secara eksplisit, benar,konsisten, dan lengkap. Aspek NOS yang paling banyak dimuat dalam buku A adalah aspek hukum ilmiah (32%), dalam buku B adalah aspek penerapan sains dalam sosial dan budaya (36%), sedangkan dalam buku C aspek paling banyak dimuat adalah aspek hukum ilmiah dan penerapan sains dalam sosial dan budaya (34,61%). Iyon Suyana, M.Si Pembimbing II : Dr. Hera Novia, M.T ABSTRACT The purpose of science education is that students have awareness about scientific literacy that is actualized through the understanding Nature of Science (NOS), for the fact that the core of scientific literacy is NOS. One of the factors causing the students’ low literacy ability is related to the presentation of NOS in science textbooks used in schools, whether it has been already explicit or still implicit. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with content analysis method. The data sources were obtained from three high school physics textbooks of grade X. The variables in the study are ten aspects of NOS according to Abd el-Khalick. The results showed that the A, B and C books analyzed obtained scores in a row of 16, 8, and 9 of the expected score of 30 for textbooks that contain ten aspects of NOS explicitly, correctly, consistently, and completely. Based on the score results, it can be concluded that the three physics textbooks analyzed have not conveyed the NOS aspects explicitly, correctly, consistently, and completely. Aspect NOS that are mostly contained in book A aspect of scientific laws (32%), in book B are aspect social and cultural embeddedness of science (36%), while in book C the most aspect loaded aspect scientific laws and aspect social and cultural embeddedness of science (34,61%).
