    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilakukan karena ditemukannya fakta dari hasil studi tentang kemampuan literasi matematis siswa dalam kategori rendah. Penelitian ini mengkaji penerapan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa dan sikap siswa terhadap penerapan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) dalam pembelajaran matematika. Materi yang diambil pada penelitian ini dibatasi pada materi Bangun Datar (Segitiga). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian yaitu Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung tahun pelajaran 2017/2018 dengan sampel dua kelas dari kelas VII yang dipilih secara tidak acak. Satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen yakni yang diberi perlakuan dengan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) dan satu kelas lainnya sebagai kelas kontrol dengan pembelajaran konvensional atau biasa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan literasi matematis siswa pada materi Bangun Datar (Segitiga), angket skala sikap, dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional. Secara keseluruhan, hampir seluruhnya yakni sebanyak 90% siswa menunjukkan sikap positif terhadap penerapan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) dalam pembelajaran matematika.;---This research was conducted due to the fact that the students’ mathematical literacy skills are in low category. This research discussed the implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach for increasing the students’ mathematical literacy skills and students attitude toward the application of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach in learning mathematics. The chapter chosen in this study was about plane figure (triangle). This study used Quasi Experimental as the method and Non-Equivalent Control Group as the design. The population in this research were grade 7 students in a public school in Bandung in academic year 2017/2018 and by using non-random sampling method, two classes were chosen as the sample. One class as the experimental class where Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach was implemented, and the second class as the control class where conventional learning was applied. The instrument used in this research was students’ mathematical literacy skills test items about plane figure (triangle), questionnaire, and observation sheet. The enhancement of students’ mathematical literacy of students in experiment class where Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach were applied was higher than the students in control class where conventional learning was implemented. Overall, around 90% students showed positive attitude toward the implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach in learning mathematics.
