Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan pembelajaran tipe Think Pair Share terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan self efficacy siswa SMP. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian nonrquivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VIII salah satu SMP di Kota Bandung semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2019/2020. Sampel dalam penelitian ini dipilih sebanyak dua kelas, yaitu kelas VIII E sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VIII F sebagai kelas eksperimen. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan purposive sampling. Data yang diperoleh merupakan hasil dari pretest, postest, angket self efficacy dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan: (1) Tidak ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari pembelajaran Think Pair Share terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP; (2) Peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran Think Pair Share lebih tinggi secara signifikan daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran direct instruction; (3) Tidak ada pengaruh dari self efficacy terhadap peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP; dan (4) Tidak ada pengaruh yang signfikan dari pembelajaran Think Pair Share terhadap self efficacy siswa SMP. Kata Kunci: pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Pair Share, kemampuan komunikasi matematis, self efficacy This research aimed to analyze the effect of cooperative learning Think Pair Share Type to mathematical communication skills and self efficacy of Junior High School student. This research used quasi experimental method and use nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Population in this research were eighth grade students of junior high schools in Bandung City in odd semester of 2019/2020 academic year. The sample in this research was chosen as many as two classes, there were VIII E as the control class and VIII F as the experimental class. The sampling tachnique in this research used purposive sampling. The obtained data were the result of pretest, posttest, self efficacy quetionnaire and observation sheet. The results of this research are: (1) There is no significant effect of Think Pair Share learning on mathematical communication skills of junior high school students; (2) improvement of mathematical communication skills of students who gain Think Pair Share learning significantly higher than direct instruction learning; (3) There is no effect of self efficacy on increasing mathematical communication skills of junior high school students; and (4) There is no significant effect of Think Pair Share learning on self efficacy of junior high school student.
