Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa, berdasarkan hasil observasi dan wawancara dengan wali kelas IV di salah satu SDN Kecamatan Bandung Wetan, Kota Bandung. Kurangnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa ini, dapat dilihat dari kesulitan menentukan informasi penting, menentukan ide pokok, menjawab pertanyaan, membuat pertanyaan dan menulis ringkasan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskrispsikan perencanaan pembelajaran, pelaksanaan pembelajaran dan peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman dengan menerapkan metode CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition). Dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran, metode CIRC memiliki 3 tahapan utama yaitu tahap prabaca, membaca dan pascabaca. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah PTK (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas) dengan model penelitian menurut Kemmis dan Taggart dalam II siklus. Instrumen pengungkap data yang digunakan terdiri dari lembar observasi, tes proses (lembar kerja kelompok) dan tes membaca pemahaman (lembar observasi). Hasil penelitian pada tindakan siklus I memperoleh presentase ketuntasan belajar sebesar 70% atau 23 siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 78 berdasarkan hasil lembar kerja kelompok dan sebesar 42,5% atau 14 siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 65 berdasarkan hasil lembar evaluasi. Kemudian pada tindakan siklus II meningkat menjadi 91% atau 30 orang siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 96 berdasarkan hasil lembar kerja kelompok dan sebesar 85% atau 23 siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 83,3 berdasarkan hasil lembar evaluasi. Dengan demikian, penerapan metode CIRC dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Kata Kunci: Metode CIRC, Kemampuan Membaca Pemahaman ------ This research is motivated by the low ability students to reading comprehension, based on the results of observations and interviews with class IV teacher in one of the SDN districts of Bandung Wetan, Bandung. This lack of reading comprehension of students, can be seen from the difficulty of determining important information, determining main ideas, answering questions, making questions and writing summaries. This research aims to describe the learning planning, learning implementation and the improvement of reading comprehension ability by implementations the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) method. In the process of implementing learning, the CIRC method has 3 main steps, namely the pre-reading, reading and post-reading stages. The research method used is PTK (Class Action Research) with a research model according to Kemmis and Taggart in II cycle. The instruments to reveal the data used consisted of observation sheets, process tests (group worksheets) and comprehension reading tests (evaluation sheets). The results of the study on the action of the first cycle obtained a percentage of learning completeness of 70% or 23 students with an average value of 78 based on the results of group work sheets and amounted to 42.5% or 14 students with an average value of 65 based on the results of the evaluation sheet. Then the action of cycle II increased to 91% or 30 students with an average value of 96 based on the results of the group worksheet and by 85% or 23 students with an average value of 83.3 based on the results of the evaluation sheet. Thus, the implementation of CIRC method can improve the reading comprehension ability of grade IV elementary school students.
