Abstract

Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Learning untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemahaman Konsep IPA di Kelas V Sekolah Dasar ABSTRAK Oleh Dini Aulia Pratiwi 1501158 Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep siswa terhadap pembelajaran IPA di kelas V pada salah satu Sekolah Dasar di Kecamatan Sukajadi Kota Bandung. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan deskripsi mengenai peningkatan pemahaman konsep IPA menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning. Permasalahan pemahaman konsep yang dialami siswa ditunjukkan dengan sulitnya memahami konsep, memberikan contoh, menjelaskan dan menyimpulkan materi pelajaran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas Kemmis dan McTaggart. Penelitian dilakukan selama dua siklus dengan partisipan 33 orang siswa yang terdiri atas 17 siswa laki-laki dan 16 siswa perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata setiap indikator pemahaman konsep dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning meningkat dari siklus I 64% menjadi 88% pada siklus II. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning mampu meningkatkan pemahaman konsep IPA kelas V Sekolah Dasar. Kata kunci : Problem Based Learning, Pembelajaran IPA, Pemahaman Konsep, Sekolah Dasar Implementation of Problem Based Learning Models to Improve the Ability to Understand Science Concept in Class V Elementary Schools ABSTRACT Dini Aulia Pratiwi 1501158 The research is motivated by students’ lack of understanding of concepts in science learning taught in V grade in one of the elementary schools in Sukajadi subdistrict, Bandung. The purpose of this study is to provide a description of students’ understanding improvement of the concept in science through the Problem Based Learning Model. Students’ difficulty in understanding the concept is shown by the inability to understand the concept, giving examples, explaining and concluding the subject matter. The research method employed is the one that is proposed by Kemmis and McTaggart namely the Classroom Action Research. This research was conducted in two cycles with 33 students consisting of 17 male students and 16 female students. Students average evaluation test score in understanding concept in cycle I was 64% and increased in cycle II up to 88%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model is effective in improving students understanding of the concepts in science taught for V grader in Elementary Schools.
