Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan self-efficacy siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan RME dan pendekatan konvensional. Serta menganalisis korelasi antara kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan self-efficacy. Penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian non-equivalen control group desain. Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas 7 SMP Negeri di Kota Batam. Sampel penelitian ini dua kelas yang dipilih berdasarkan purposive sampling. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan RME lebih baik secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan pendekatan konvensional secara keseluruhan. 2) Peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan RME lebih baik secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan pendekatan konvensional untuk kategori KAM tinggi dan sedang, sedangkan untuk kategori KAM rendah peningkatan kemampuan kedua kelas tidak berbeda. 3) Peningkatan self-efficacy siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan RME lebih baik secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan pendekatan konvensional. 4) Terdapat korelasi yang signifikan antara kemampuan komunikasi matematis dengan self-efficacy.-- This research is aimed at analyzing the improvement of student’s ability of mathematics communication and self-efficacy between Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach and conventional approach; identifying the correlation between the ability of mathematics communication and self-efficacy. The method used in this research is quasi experimental and design research non-equivalent control group design. Population in this research is all student at grade 7 SMP Negeri at Batam. The sample of this research is two classes were taken by using purposive sampling. The findings of the research show that: 1) Improvement of overall student’s ability of mathematics communication with the RME approach is better than conventional approach. 2) Improvement of student’s ability of mathematics communication with the RME approach is better than conventional approach if reviewed from the high and middle KAM, but for the category low KAM there is no different between two classes. 3) Improvement of student’s self-efficacy with the RME approach is better than conventional approach. 4) There is the correlation between ability of mathematics communication and self-efficacy.
