Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan berbicara siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari siswa yang kurang aktif dan tidak berani mengungkapkan pendapatnya pada saat proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan pendekatan saintifik untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan mengadaptasi milik Kemmis & Mc.Taggart yang meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Penelitian terdiri dari tiga siklus yang melibatkan 19 orang siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar observasi pendekatan saintifik, lembar observasi keterampilan berbicara, catatan lapangan dan dokumentasi. Data kuantitatif diolah menggunakan statistik persentase sedangkan data kualitatif diolah menggunakan langkah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya peningkatan keterampilan berbicara siswa. Pada siklus I nilai rata-rata kelas 63,52 dengan presentase 47%. Pada siklus II nilai rata-rata kelas 73,23 dengan persentase 76%. Pada siklus III nilai rata-rata 80,29 mencapai 88%. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan menerapkan pendekatan saintifik di sekolah dasar dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa.;--The background of this research is the low of student speaking skill. This is because students are less active and do not dare to express their opinions during learning process. The aims of this research is to describe the application of scientific approach to improve students' speaking skills. The method of this research used Classroom Action Research Method (PTK) by adapting from Kemmis & Mc.Taggart's property which includes planning, execution, observation and reflection. The study consisted of three cycles involving 19 students. The instruments in this research used observation sheet of scientific approach, speech observation sheet, field note and documentation. Quantitative data was processed using percentage statistics while the qualitative data was processed using data of reduction steps, data of presentation, and data of verification. The result of this research showed the improvement of students' speaking skill. In cycle I the average value of class 63.52 with a percentage of 47%. In cycle II the average value of class 73,23 with percentage 76%. In cycle III the average value of 80.29 reached 88%. Thus it can be concluded by applying the scientific approach in Elementary School, it could be improved students' speaking skills.
