Abstract

ABSTRAK Peningkatan kualitas guru sebagai orang yang sangat berperan dalam dunia pendidikan harus menjadi prioritas utama. Guru dituntut harus profesional dan mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan, kemampuan, dan keterampilan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) PAI SMP di Kabupaten Bandung Barat dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru Pendidikan Agama Islam. Secara lebih spesifik tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan gambaran umum MGMP, peningkatan kompetensi pedagogik, kepribadian, sosial, professional, dan keagamaan guru Pendidikan Agama Islam melalui MGMP PAI SMP di Kabupaten Bandung Barat, serta mendeskripsikan faktor penunjang dan penghambat dari terlaksananya program MGMP PAI SMP di Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendeketan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Peneliti menjadi instrumen kunci dalam penelitian. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik-teknik observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan triangulasi. Analisis data penelitian dilakukan dalam bentuk reduksi data, display data, dan verifikasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, program yang dilaksanakan MGMP PAI SMP Gugus I untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru PAI ialah: pembinaan, perlombaan, supervisi dan penilaian kinerja guru (PKG). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa dari seluruh program yang dilaksanakan oleh MGMP serta melihat hasilnya pada peningkatan kompetensi guru, dapat dikatakan cukup baik meningkatkan setiap kompetensi yang harus dimiliki oleh guru PAI. Hanya saja peningkatan pada kompetensi pedagogik dan keagamaan dirasa belum cukup efektif. Program yang dilaksanakan tersebut ditunjang oleh sanggar yang dimiliki MGMP KBB dan sekolah tempat rutin dilaksanakan pertemuan MGMP PAI SMP Gugus I yang sudah mempunyai fasilitas yang baik. Adapun yang menjadi hambatan terlaksananya program MGMP ialah dari segi waktu, jarak, motivasi guru PAI, dan biaya. Kata Kunci: peningkatan kompetensi, pedagogik, kepribadian, sosial, profesional, MGMP PAI SMP   ABSTRACT Improving the quality of teachers who play a vital role in education must be a top priority. Teachers are required to be professional and able to improve their knowledge, abilities, and skills. This research aims to describe how Subject Teachers’ Forum (Indonesian, and henceforth, MGMP) in West Bandung Regency improves the competencies of Islamic Education teachers. More specifically, the purpose of this study is to describe MGMP in general and how the MGMP for Islamic education teachers at the level of junior high school (Indonesian, and henceforth, MGMP PAI SMP) helps improve Islamic education teachers’ pedagogical, personality, social, professional, and religious competencies in West Bandung Regency, and also to describe the supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of the MGMP SMP PAI programs related to teacher competencies in West Bandung Regency. This study employed a qualitative approach with descriptive method. The researcher became a key instrument in the study. Data were collected using observation, interview, documentation, and triangulation. Research data analysis was carried out in the forms of data reduction, data display, and verification. Based on the findings of the research, the programs carried out by the MGMP PAI SMP Cluster 1 to improve the competencies of Islamic teachers are: mentoring, competition, supervision, and assessment of teacher performance. It can be concluded that based on the results of teachers’ improved competencies, the programs carried out by the MGMP can be said to be quite effective in improving each of the competencies that must be possessed by Islamic education teachers. However, improvement in pedagogic and religious competencies is deemed not effective. The programs implemented are supported by a studio owned by the MGMP of Bandung Barat Regency and the good facilities of the school where the meetings of the MGMP PAI SMP Cluster 1 are held. The obstacles to the implementation of the MGMP programs are time constraint, distance, motivation of the Islamic education teachers, and costs.
