Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kompetensi strategis matematis siswa setelah melakukan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model problem based learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Kecamatan Sukasari Kota Bandung. Satu kelas menjadi kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan model pembelajaran PBL. Sedangkan kelas lainnya merupakan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan model pembelajaran ekspositori. Instrumen pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah RPP, LKS serta lembar observasi untuk aktivitas siswa dan guru. Data pada penelitian ini diperoleh melalui hasil uji instrumen, pre-test, post-test, dan wawancara terhadap beberapa siswa. Data yang diperoleh diolah melalui uji normalitas, uji homogenitas dan uji kesamaan dua rata-rata. Uji statistik yang digunakan adalah uji-t. Hasil dari pelaksanaan penelitian ini adalah (1) Siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol memiliki kemampuan awal kompetensi strategis matematis yang sama; (2) Tidak terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan dari kompetensi strategis matematis antara siswa kelas kontrol dan siswa kelas eksperimen; (3) Pada Indikator pertama, siswa kelas kontrol memiliki persentase rata-rata skor yang sedikit lebih tinggi; (4) Kemampuan pada indikator kedua adalah yang paling tinggi untuk masing-masing kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol; (5) Persentase keseluruhan dari skor rata-rata kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol hanya berselisih 9%; (6) Siswa kelas eksperimen lebih senang dengan pembelajaran yang menggunakan model problem based learning.---- This research was conducted to find out how the students's mathematical strategic competence after learning by using a model of problem based learning. This study uses two 8th grade classes in one of junior high Sukasari District of Bandung. One class becomes an experimental class using the PBL learning model. While the other class is a control class that uses expository learning model. Learning instrument used is RPP, LKS and observation sheet for student and teacher activites. The data in this study were obtained through the results of the test instruments, pre-test, post-test, and interviews of some students. The data obtained were processed through normality test, homogeneity test and equality test of two averages. The statistical test used was the t-test. The results of the implementation of this study were (1) Students’s of experimental class and control class has the same initial ability of strategic competence mathematically; (2) There is no significant improvement of mathematical strategic competence between the control class and experimental class students; (3) In the first indicator, control class has an average percentage score slightly higher; (4) The ability of the second indicator is the highest for each of the experimental class and control class; (5) Percentage of total of the average score of the experimental class and the control class was only 9%; (6) Students’s of experimental class are more pleased with the learning using problem based learning models.
