Abstract

Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah terhambatnya kemampuan komunikasi anak autis sehingga anak mengalami kesulitan dalam menyampaikan keinginan. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dibutuhkan sebuah media alternatif yang dapat membantu anak dalam menyampaikan keinginan. Tujuan penelitian ini, untuk mengetahui kemampuan objektif anak autis, kemampuan objektif komunikasi anak autis, kemampuan komunikasi anak autis dengan menggunakan aplikasi e-wish sebagai alternatif komunikasi dan efektivitas aplikasi e-wish dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi anak autis. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah mix method dengan strategi eksploratoris sekuensial. Peneliti mengumpulkan data kualitatif melalui observasi dan wawancara yang mencakup data deskripsi mengenai kemampuan awal anak sebagai acuan dalam merancang aplikasi e-wish. Kemudian peneliti mengumpulkan data kuantitatif untuk mengukur keefektifan aplikasi e-wish melalui eksperimen subjek tunggal atau Single Subject Research (SSR). Subjek penelitian berjumlah dua orang anak autis dengan rentang usia 9 sampai 11 tahun yang berada di Sekolah Luar Biasa Purnama Asih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) Kedua subjek mengalami kesulitan menyebutkan kata secara jelas sehingga sulit dipahami orang lain. 2) Proses pengembangan komunikasi anak saat ini melalui kartu gambar dan masih berjalan satu arah. 3) Aplikasi e-wish sebagai alternatif komunikasi anak autis. 4) Kemampuan komunikasi anak autis yang diukur dari frekuensi ketercapaian anak menyampaikan keinginan hingga mendapatkan keinginan dalam durasi 30 menit menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan pada fase intervensi dan tetap bertahan hingga baseline A2. Hasil penelitian ini direkomendasikan kepada orang tua, guru, agar menggunakan aplikasi e-wish sesuai buku pedoman dan peneliti selanjutnya agar mengembangkan dan mengatasi kelemahan aplikasi.;---The problem in this research is the impaired communication of children with autism that makes it difficult for them to express their desire. To overcome this problem, an alternative medium is needed to help children convey their desire. This research aimed to find out the objective skill of children with autism, communication objective skill of children with autism, communication skill of children with autism using the e-wish application as a communciation alternative, and the effectiveness of e-wish in improving the communication skill of children with autism. This research used the combination of qalitative data and quantitative data or known as mix method. The approach used in this research is sequential exploratory strategy, the researcher collected the qualitative data through observation and interview, including the descriptive data on the children’s initial skill as a reference in designing the e-wish application. Afterwards, the researcher collected the quantiative data for measuring the effectiveness of the e-wish application through Single Subject Research (SSR). Research subjects totaled 2 two children with autism with age range of 9 to 11 yeasrs who were in Purnama Asih Special School, Bandung. The research results showed that 1) Both subjects had a difficulty in uttering words in a clear way, making it difficult for others to understand. 2) The children’s communication development process by the time the research was conducted was through picture card and only one-way. 3) E-wish application as a communication alternative for children with autism. 4) Communication skills of children with autism being measured from the frequency of child achievement expressed the desire to get the desire within duration of 30 minutes showed an increase in the intervention phase and persisted up to the baseline A2. The results of this research are recommended for parents, teachers, to use e-wish application according the manual book and further researchers in order to develop and mitigate weaknesses of e-wish application.
