Abstract
Pemahaman konsep dan pemecahan masalah merupakan kemampuan penting dalam pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Problem Solving Learning terhadap pemahaman konsep dan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan alasan pembelajaran berpendekatan pemecahan masalah masih jarang digunakan oleh guru sekolah dasar dalam pembelajaran matematika.Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Quasi-Experimental Nonequivalent Group-Design dengan sampel siswa kelas IV pada dua sekolah dasar negeri di Kecamatan Cipari Kabupaten Cilacap. Data kemampuan pemahaman konsep dikumpulkan dengan instrumen tes sedangkan data kemampuan pemecahan masalah dikumpulkan dengan angket pemecahan masalah. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis statistik uji Mann-Whitney, uji independent t-tes dan uji independent t-tes equal variances not assumed. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan pemahaman konsep dan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran Problem Solving Learning lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran langsung. Hal ini dikarenakan pada Problem Solving Learning siswa memiliki kesempatan yang lebih banyak untuk melatih diri, memahami konsep secara lebih mendalam, dan mendapatkan strategi pemecahan masalah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini peneliti merekomendasikan untuk menerapkan Problem Solving Learning pada pembelajaran matematika serta perlu penelitian lebih lanjut berkaitan pembelajaran ini dengan masalah terbuka. ;--- Understanding concepts and problem solving is an important ability in learning mathematics. This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Solving Learning to understanding the concepts and solving problems of elementary school mathematics students. This research was conducted on the basis of learning problem-solving approach is still rarely used by elementary school teachers in learning mathematics. This research uses the design of Quasi-Experimental Nonequivalent Group-Design with a sample of fourth grade students in two public elementary schools in Cipari District, Cilacap Regency. Data on concept comprehension skills were collected with test instruments while problem solving data were collected with problem solving questionnaire. This study used Mann-Whitney test, independent t-test and independent t-test equal variances not assumed test. The results showed that the improvement of understanding of concepts and solving problems of mathematics students who get learning Problem Solving Learning higher than students who received direct instruction instruction. This is because in Problem Solving Learning students have more opportunities to train themselves, understand the concept more deeply, and get a problem-solving strategy. Based on the results of this study researchers recommend to apply problem solving learning on learning mathematics and need more research related to this learning with open problems
