Abstract
Kondisi akhir subjek ini menunjukkan metode suku kata dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan pada peserta didik low vision.---- Reading is a basic ability that every student has the right to possess. Students with low vision are currently getting reading teaching using braille letters that are assumed to lead to achievement, low learning outcomes and decreased motivation in learning. The result of the assessment of a low vision student who is in grade 3 SDLB has knowledge in knowing the letters, the rest of his functional vision is able to read the letter size 36, with a distance of 3 cm and with the position of light in front. This study aims to improve the ability to read the term on the aspects of syllables, then a simple word and phrase through syllable method. This research used Single Subject Research (SSR) method with design A-B-A. The results showed that the mean reading level of the beginning subjects at the baseline-1 phase obtained a percentage of 21.11% indicating the subject was in the letter spelling stage, then in the intervention phase showed the acquisition of the mean level of 90.63% indicating the subject has been able to read simple sentences and In the baseline-2 phase showed an increase of 98.52% indicating the subject was able to read simple sentences smoothly. The final condition of this subject shows syllable methods can improve pre-reading ability for students with low vision .
