Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of social skills for elementary school students. Student social skills can help students interact in their environment. Social skills are not something that every human being automatically possesses, social skills must be inculcated through learning and habituation. One solution to this problem is the cultivation of social skills through extracurricular activities. Extracurricular activities are self-development activities of students outside of school hours. The selected extracurricular activities are scout, marching band and angklung. So, this study tries to explore how extracurricular activities can generate and develop students' social skills. This research uses qualitative approach with case study research design. To obtain data in the framework of research, researchers used three ways of collecting data, namely by using interviews, observation and documentation. The study was conducted for five months from March 2017 until July 2017. As a result, in the program of extracurricular, there’s a goal to develop social skills students, especially to the development of student personality. extracurricular activities can generate various social skills of students, namely basic skills of interaction, basic communication skills, team-building skills or group and problem-solving skills. As for, the factors that influence the factors of group activities, factors of the situation, factors of rules in the activity, program factors or design activities and factors of relationships among peers.---- Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh pentingnya keterampilan sosial bagi siswa sekolah dasar. Keterampilan siswa dapat membantu siswa dalam berinteraksi di lingkungannya. Keterampilan sosial bukan sesuatu yang dengan otomatis dimiliki oleh setiap manusia, keterampilan sosial harus ditanamkan melalui tahap belajar dan pembiasaan. Salah satu cara menanamkan keterampilan sosial adalah penanaman keterampilan sosial melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler. Kegiatan ekstrakurikuler merupakan kegiatan pengembangan diri siswa di luar jam pelajaran. Kegiatan ekstrakurikuler yang dipilih yaitu pramuka, marching band dan angklung. Maka, penelitian ini mencoba menelusuri, bagaimana kegiatan ekstrakurikuler dapat memunculkan dan mengembangkan keterampilan sosial siswa. penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain penelitian studi kasus. Untuk mendapatkan data dalam rangka penelitian, peneliti menggunakan tiga cara pengumpulan data, yaitu dengan menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama lima bulan yaitu sejak maret 2017 sampai dengan juli 2017. Hasilnya, setiap program kerja kegiatan ekstrakurikuler, memiliki tujuan/capaian yang mengarah pada keterampilan sosial siswa, khususnya kepada pengembangan kepribadian sswa. kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pun dalam setiap aktivitasnya dapat memunculkan berbagai keterampilan sosial siswa, yaitu keterampilan dasar berinteraksi, keterampilan dasar berkomunikasi, keterampilan membangun tim atau kelompok dan keterampilan menyelesaikan masalah. Adapun, faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya yaitu faktor kegiatan kelompok, faktor situasi, faktor aturan dalam kegiatan tersebut, faktor program atau desain kegiatan dan faktor hubungan antar teman sebaya.
