Abstract

Anak tunagrahita ringan mengalami keterlambatan dalam belajar karena kemampuan intelektualnya berada di bawah rata-rata. Oleh sebab itu, kemampuan membacanya pun mengalami keterlambatan jika dibandingkan dengan anak seusianya. Membaca menjadi salah satu kegiatan yang sulit bagi anak tunagrahita ringan karena prosesnya cukup rumit. Walaupun mengalami keterlambatan, anak tunagrahita ringan masih mungkin untuk diberikan pelajaran membaca permulaan. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh metode global berbantuan modifikasi permainan ular tangga dalam pembelajaran membaca permulaan pada anak tunagrahita ringan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen subjek tunggal dengan desain A-B-A karena subjeknya berjumlah tiga orang sehingga dapat diketahui perubahan kemampuan membaca permulaan dan perbedaannya secara individu. Pemilihan metode global dalam penelitian ini karena dapat mengenalkan kalimat sederhana, kata, suku kata, dan huruf secara bersamaan kepada anak. Selain itu, metode ini juga diperkuat dengan penggunaan gambar sehingga lebih konkret dan dapat mempermudah ketika proses pembelajaran. Temuan dari penelitian ini adalah adanya peningkatan rata-rata dari kondisi baseline-1, intervensi, dan baseline-2 pada ketiga subjek penelitian walaupun tidak terlalu signifikan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah adanya pengaruh metode global berbantuan media modifikasi permainan ular tangga terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan anak tunagrahita ringan. Kata kunci: metode global, membaca permulaan, dan tunagrahita ringan;--- Children with mild mental retardation have a delay in learning because their intellectual ability is below average. Therefor, his reading ability is delay when compared to his age. Reading becomes one of the difficult activities for children with mild mental retardation because the process is quite complicated. Although delay but mild mental retardation childrren are still possible to be taught early reading lessons. Based on the background of the study, this study aims to see the effect of global method assisted by snake ladder media in early reading learning in children with mild mental retardation. This study used a single subject experimental method with A-B-A design because the subject amounted to three people so that it can be known changes in ability to read the beginning and the difference individually. Selection of global method in this study because it can introduce simple sentences, words, syllables, and letters simultaneously to the child. In addition, this method is also reinforced with the use of images so that more concrete and can facilitate the learning process. The findings of this study is the average increase from baseline-1, intervensi, and baseline-2 in all subjects, althought no too significant. The result of this study is the influence of global methods assisted modification of snake and ladder game to the ability to early reading of the child with mild mental retardation.
