Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi kurangnya pemahaman konsep terhadap pembelajaran IPA pada siswa kelas V di salah satu Sekolah Dasar Kecamatan Sukasari, Bandung. Tujuan penelitian untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatkan pemahaman konsep IPA melalui metode eksperimen. Oleh karena itu peneliti merumuskan permasalahan sebagai berikut. Bagaimanakah penerapan metode pembelajaran eksperimen dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep IPA pada siswa kelas V SD, bagaimanakah peningkatan pemahaman konsep IPA pada siswa di kelas V SD melalui penerapan metode eksperimen. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang mengadaptasi model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart yang dilaksanakan sebanyak dua siklus, setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes dan analisis observasi pembelajaran, dengan instrumen penelitian lembar observasi dan lembar evaluasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa penerapan metode eksperimen dapat menigkatkan pemahaman konsep IPA pada siswa kelas V SD. Hal ini ditandai dengan peningkatan rata-rata persentase indikator pemahaman konsep yaitu pada siklus I sebesar 77% dan pada siklus II menjadi 80%, dari ketiga indikator pemahaman konsep yaitu menjelaskan, mencontohkan, dan menyimpulkan. Oleh karena itu pembelajaran IPA dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen dapat menjadi alternatif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep IPA. This research was motivated by the lack of understanding the concepts science learning on 5th grade in an elementary school located in Sukasari, Bandung. The purpose of this research is to describe the improvement of understanding the concept science through experiment method. Therefore, the researcher proposes the following issues. How is the application of experiment learning method in improving the understanding of science concept on the V grade, how is the improvement of understanding the concept through application of experiment method on the V grades. This study uses a classroom action research design (PTK) that adapts the Kemmis and Mc Taggart models in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The data were collected through observation and test, with observation sheet and evaluation sheet. The results of this research stated that the implementation of experiment method can improve in understanding the concept of science on the students. It’s by the increase of the average percentage of conceptual understanding indicator that is 77% in the first cycle and 80% in the second cycle, of the three indicators of conceptual understanding that is explaining, exemplifying, and concluding. Therefore, science learning by using experiment method can be the alternative way to improve understands of the concept of science
