Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi ide matematis yang terdapat pada ukiran rumah adat tradisional Minangkabau, sehingga dapat terlihat bahwa adanya hubungan timbal balik antara matematika dan budaya. Diharapkan persepsi siswa dan masyarakat tentang matematika menjadi lebih tepat, dan pembelajaran matematika bisa lebih disesuaikan dengan konteks budaya siswa dan masyarakat, sehingga pelajaran matematika bisa lebih mudah dimengerti dan dipahami karena tidak lagi dianggap sebagai sesuatu yang asing. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Pusat Dokumentasi dan Informasi Kebudayaan Minangkabau (PDIKM) dan Jorong Labuang, Nagari Koto Laweh, Kecamatan Canduang, Kabupaten Agam, Sumatera Barat. Masyarakat Koto Laweh adalah salah satu kelompok masyarakat yang masih memegang teguh kebudayaan dan mempertahankan keindahan dari produksi ukiran tradisional Minangkabau. Untuk mendalami budaya masyarakat Minangkabau di Nagari Koto Laweh, penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan study ethnomathematics dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan catatan lapangan. Hasil temuan ini adalah terdapat ide matematis berdasarkan enam aktivitas matematika dan pola-pola geometri pada ukiran rumah adat tradisional Minangkabau, serta hasil penelitian ini dapat diimplementasikan pada bahan ajar berupa Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), Lembar Kerja Siswa (LKS), dan modul. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan kepada masyarakat bahwa terdapat kaitan antara matematika dan budaya. Kata Kunci: Study of Ethnomathematics, Ide Matematis, Ukiran Rumah Adat Tradisional Minangkabau, Bahan Ajar. This research has a purpose to investigate the mathematical ideas on the relief of Minangkabau traditional house, so it can be seen that threre a reciprocal relationship between mathematics and culture. Students and society are expected to have mathematic perceptions society, and mathematic learning can be more adjusted with the culture context of students and society, so that mathematic subject can be known and understood well because mathematic is not considered as something strange anymore. This research was conducted at Documentation and Information of Minangkabau Cultural Center, and Jorong Labuang, Koto Laweh Village, Canduang, Agam, West Sumatera. Koto laweh society is one the people group that still hold the culture firmly and they maintain the beauty of Minangkabau traditional relief production. For understanding the culture of Minangkabau society in Koto Laweh Village, this research was conducted by implementing study ethnomathematics with qualitative approach. The data collection technique used in this research were observation, interview, documentation and field notes. The result of this research was mathematical ideas which were based on six mathematic activities and geometry patterns on the relief of Minangkabau traditional house. The result of this research can be implemented on the lesson plan, student’s worksheet, and module. This research gave the recommendations for the society about the relationship between mathematic and culture.
