Abstract

Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika adalah menerapkan strategi pembelajaran yang mendukung terwujudnya tujuan pembelajaran matematika. Tujuan pembelajaran matematika diantaranya adalah mengembangkan kemampuan pemahaman dan komunikasi matematis. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dibandingkan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII pada salah satu SMP di kota Bandung tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Sampel yang digunakan adalah siswa kelas VII-B sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas VII-A sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan pemahaman, tes kemampuan komunikasi dan skala sikap kemandirian belajar matematis.. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran berbasis masalah lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik. Sedangkan kemandirian belajar siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis masalah tidak berbeda dengan kemandirian belajar siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan pendekatan saintifik.;--- One way to improve the quality of mathematics learning is to implement strategies to support the realization of the learning mathematics goal. The objective of mathematics learning were developing mathematical understanding and communication capabilities. Therefore, this study aims to assess the improvement of understanding and communication ability of students whose obtain a mathematical model of problem-based learning than students who had learning the scientific approach. This research is quasi-experimental; with populations are students of class VII at one of junior high school in Bandung academic year 2014/2015. The sample used were students of class VII-B as experimental class and class VII-A as control class. The instrument used was comprehension test, communication skills test and attitude scale of mathematical self-regulated learning. The results showed that: increase understanding and communication ability of students who obtain a mathematical problem-based learning is better than students who had learned the scientific approach. Whereas the student learning by self-regulated which using problem-based learning was no different with student learning by self-regulated which using scientific approach.
