Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi kemampuan spasial
dan kemampuan representasi siswa
dalam mengungkapkan ide /gagasan perlu digali. Maka penting sekali bagi guru untuk
dapat mengetahui kemampuan siswa yang sebenarnya
yang belum banyak ditel
iti pada
tingkat sekolah dasar.
Tujuan penelitian ini
untuk membandingkan hasil pembelajaran
Pendekatan Matematika Realistik (PMR) dengan pembelajaran konvensional dalam
peningkatan kemampuan spasial dan representasi matematis siswa kelas V sekolah
dasar p
ada materi bangun ruang.
Populasi penelitian ini adalah sekolah yang berada di
Kecamatan Leuwimunding Kabupaten Majalengka. Terdapat empat sekolah yang
dijadikan sampel penelitian dan masing
-
masing sekolah diambil satu kelas. Dua kelas
dijadikan kelas eksp
erimen dan dua kelas lainnya dijadikan kelas kontrol.
Metode
yang digunakan yaitu kuasi eksperimen, dengan desai
n
kelompok pretes dan postes.
Pengumpulan data penelitian diambil dari tes kemampuan spasial, tes kemampuan
representasi, lembar observasi siswa
dan guru.
Analisis data dan pengujian hipotesis
menunjukkan beberapa hasil penelitian. Pertama, PMR secara signifikan dapat
meningkatkan kemampuan spasial siswa pada level sekolah tinggi. Kedua, PMR
secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan representasi matema
tis siswa pada level sekolah
tinggi dan sedang. Hal ini terjadi karena PMR lebih banyak mengkontruksi
pengetahuan dan pengalaman siswa, melatih kemandirian belajar siswa, dan banyak
memfasilitasi siswa dalam melakukan representasi berdasarkan masalah konte
kstual.
Pembelajaran konvensional dapat meningkatkan kemampuan
spasial
dan representasi
matematis, jika aspek dalam pembelajaran dilakukan dengan benar:--- This research of background spatial abilities and representation of students in

Majalengka. There are four schools that the research sample and each school is
taken
one class. Two classes used as an experimental class and two other classes used as a
control group.
The method used is quasi experiment with pretest and posttest design
group. The data collection were taken from the spatial tests, tests of representa
tion,
student and teacher observation sheet.
Data analysis and hypothesis testing
showed
some of the results. First, RME can significantly improve the spatial abilities of
students at the high school level. Second, RME can significantly improve the
mathema
tical representation of students at high

because the RME more students to construct

knowledge and experience, to train
students' independe
nt learning, and many facilitated
students in making representations

textual problems. Conventional learning can improve spatial and
mathematical representation, if the aspect in the learning is done correctly.
