Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa dan keterampilan proses sains siswa (KPS). Peningkatan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan proses sains siswa dilakukan melalui penerapan strategi pembelajaran student generated representations (SGRs) yang diintegrasikan dalam model pembelajaran learning cycle 5E (LC5ESGRs). Konsistensi peningkatan akibat strategi SGRs dikaji melalui penggunaan desain penelitian counter balanced yang memungkinkan untuk dilakukan penukaran pembelajaran yang dilakukan dikedua kelas. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas X di salah satu SMA negeri di kota Bandung, Jawa Barat. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Persentase rata-rata n-gain pemahaman konsep siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol berturut-turut yaitu 64 dan 52,75 sedangkan persentase rata-rata n-gain keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol berturut-turut adalah 78,9 dan 29,1. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pengintegrasian SGRs dalam model learning cycle 5E dapat lebih meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan proses sains siswa dibandingkan dengan model learning cycle 5E saja. Persentase n-gain setiap kelas menunjukkan bahwa SGRs konsisten dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan proses sains yang dibuktikan dengan persentase peningkatan di kelas eksperimen selalu lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Signifikansi diuji dengan mengunakan uji hipotesis yang menyatakan bahwa Ho ditolak yang artinya terdapat perbedaan secara signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol pada (α) signifikasi 1% baik sebelum maupun setelah dilakukan penukaran pembelajaran. ;--- This study is motivated by the importance of improving students’ conceptual comprehension and science process skills. The improvement of students’ conceptual comprehension and science process skills was done through the implementation of student generated representations (SGRs) strategy integrated in the learning model learning cycle 5E (LC5ESGRs). The consistency of students’ conceptual improvement through SGRs strategy is investigated through the use of counter balanced research design that enables the researcher to exchange learning process done in both classes. The population of the present study was all students of class X in one of state senior high schools in Bandung, West Java. Purposive sampling technique was used in selecting the sample in the present study. Based on the average percentage of n-gain, students’ conceptual comprehension in experimental and control classes is respectively 64 and 52.75, while based on the average percentage of n-gain, students’ science process skill in experimental and control classes is respectively 78.9 and 29.1. These results indicate that integrating SGRs in learning cycle 5E can further enhance students’ conceptual and science process skill rather than the implementation of learning cycle 5E without being integrated with SGRs. The percentage of n-gain in each class indicates that SGRs is consistent in increasing students’ conceptual and science process skill. This is proved by the higher score in experimental class rather than in control class. The significant is tested which states that Ho is rejected, meaning that there are significant differences between the experimental class and the control class at the level of significace 1% before and after exchanging the learning process.
