Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran generatif berbasis berpikir kritis terhadap kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi peserta didik kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Kecamatan Payakumbuh. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian the randomized posttest-only control group design, using matched subject. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Kecamatan Payakumbuh yang terdaftar pada tahun pelajaran 2015-2016, sedangkan sampel dalam penelitian diambil dua kelas dari tujuh kelas yang tersedia dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data utama dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari prates dan pascates menulis teks eksplanasi, sedangkan data pendukung diperoleh dari lembar observasi kegiatan pembelajaran. Model pembelajaran generatif berbasis berpikir kritis diterapkan sesuai dengan tahapan priliminary phase (tahap pendahuluan), focus phase (tahap pemfokusan), challenge phase (tahap tantangan), dan aplication phase (tahap penerapan). Berdasarkan hasil analisis data penelitian, diketahui bahwa rata-rata kemampuan awal menulis teks eksplanasi peserta didik pada kelas eksperimen berada pada kategori kurang dengan perolehan nilai sebesar 54,92, dan rata-rata kemampuan awal menulis teks eksplanasi peserta didik pada kelas kontrol berada pada kategori kurang dengan perolehan nilai sebesar 55,32. Sementara itu, rata-rata kemampuan akhir menulis teks eksplanasi peserta didik pada kelas eksperimen berada pada kategori baik dengan perolehan nilai sebesar 83,41, dan rata-rata kemampuan akhir menulis teks eksplanasi peserta didik pada kelas kontrol berada pada kategori cukup dengan perolehan nilai sebesar 73,18. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis diperoleh hasil bahwa p-value sebesar 0,000 lebih kecil dari α = 0,05. Ini menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis H0 dalam penelitian ini ditolak, sedangkan hipotesis H1 diterima. Berdasarkan uji Cohen’s dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran generatif berbasis berpikir kritis berpengaruh sebesar 95 % terhadap kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi peserta didik kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Kecamatan Payakumbuh Kabupaten Limapuluh Kota.;--- It is found that junior high school students lack of ability to write explanatory text. Therefore, this study aims to seek the effect of critical-thinking-based generative learning model toward seven graders’ explanatory text writing ability. Using a matched subject, this research utilizes the randomized posttest-only control group design quasi-experimental research method. The population in this study were all students of class VII SMP Negeri Kecamatan 3 Payakumbuh enrolled in the academic year 2015-2016, while the sample was taken from two classes of seventh grade by using purposive sampling technique. The main data in this study were obtained from the explanatory text writing pre-test and post-test, and the supporting data obtained from learning activities observation sheet. The critical-thinking-based generative learning model was applied in four phases, i.e. preliminary phase, focus phase, challenge phase, and application phase. The analysis of the pre-test shows that the experimental group students writing’s average score is 54.92, while the controlled group’s average score is 55.32. Meanwhile, experimental group’s post-test average score is 83.41, and the control group’s post-test average score is 73.18. The hypothesis testing resulted in the p-value of 0.000 is smaller than α = 0.05. This shows that the hypothesis H0 is rejected in this study, while the H1 hypothesis is accepted. According to Cohen’s test can be concluded that the critical-thinking-based generative learning model affects 95% of the seventh grade students in SMP Negeri 3 Kecamatan Payakumbuh Kabupaten Limapuluh Kota explanatory text writing ability.
