Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi pada proses pembelajaran IPS di sekolah dasar terutama di kelas IV yang dianggap masih kurang bermakna dan bervariasi. Masih banyak guru sekolah dasar dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar (KBM) pembelajaran IPS terkesan teoritis yang hanya menyampaikan informasi melalui buku teks, siswa menghafal, guru terlalu sering menggunakan metode ceramah dan metode penugasan. Oleh sebab itu, kebanyakan siswa terlihat kurang memiliki kemampuan berfikir kritis dan belum memiliki kesadaran kemampuan keterampilan sosialnya, sehingga belum dapat mengimplikasikan konsep pembelajaran IPS secara keseluruhan pada lingkup sekolah maupun pada lingkup bermasyarakatnya (sosial). Dalam hal ini peneliti bereksperimen (kuasi) pada proses kegiatan belajar mengajarnya (KBM) melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Sains Teknologi dan Masyarakat (STM). Model pembelajaran STM ini diterapkan di kelas IV sekolah dasar dimaksudkan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran bervariasi yang dianggap jarang dipergunakan pada pembelajaran IPS. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan atau persamaan yang signifikan kemampuan berfikir kritis dan keterampilan sosial siswa, antara siswa atau kelas yang memperoleh perlakuan model pembelajaran Sains Teknologi dan Masyarakat (STM) dengan siswa yang hanya mendapatkan pembelajaran secara konvensional. Metode yang digunakan dalam metode eksperimen kuasi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket, tes berupa uraian dan pilihan ganda untuk mengukur kemampuan berfikir kritis siswa, dan lembar pengematan siswa untuk mengukur keterampilan sosial siswa. Hasil perolehan data hasil perhitungan uji statistik dengan menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney pada kemampuan berfikir kritis siswa menghasilkan Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) lebih kecil dibandingkan taraf signifikansinya (alfa) 0,05 yaitu memperoleh nilai 0,000. Dari hal tersebut dapat dinyatakan bahwa hasil uji Mann-Whitney kali ini terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada nilai posttest kemampuan berfikir kritis siswa. Sedangkan pada hasil keterampilan sosial dengan menggunakan uji t yaitu sebesar 4.166, hal tersebut dapat dikatakan diterima. Dari hasil di atas, melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Sains Teknologi dan Masyarakat (STM) di kelas eksperimen berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berfikir kritis dan keterampilan sosial siswanya. Therefore, most students seem less have the ability to think critically and do not have awareness capability social skills, so it can not to imply the overall concept of social science learning in the scope of the school and on the scope society (social). In this case the researchers experimented (quasi) in the process of teaching and learning activities through the application of learning models Science Technology and Society (STS). STS learning model is applied in the fourth grade of primary school is intended as an alternative to a varied learning that is considered rarely used in social science learning. In this study, researchers aimed to determine significant differences or similarities critical thinking abilities and social skills of students, among students or classes who obtained teaching model Science Technology and Society (STM) with students who get only conventional learning. The method used adalam quasi experimental method. The instrument used was a questionnaire, a test in the form of descriptions and multiple choice to measure students 'critical thinking ability, and sheets Observation of students to measure students' social skills. Results of the data acquisition statistical test calculation results using the Mann-Whitney test on critical thinking ability of students to produce Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) is smaller than the significance level (alpha) of 0.05 is obtained a value of 0.000. From this it can be stated that the results of the Mann-Whitney test this time there are significant differences in the posttest value students' critical thinking skills. While the results of social skills by using the t test in the amount of 4,166, it can be said to be acceptable. From the above results, through the application of learning models Science Technology and Society (STM) in the experimental group influence to increase the ability of critical thinking and social skills of students.
