Abstract
Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh asumsi sebagian ahli yang menyatakan terdapat hubungan sebab akibat antara konsep diri dengan prestasi akademik dan sebagian ahli menyatakan tidak terdapat hubungan sebab akibat antara konsep diri dengan prestasi akademik. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui signifikansi hubungan konsep diri dengan prestasi akademik peserta didik. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan kuantitatif studi korelasional. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara insidental (sampling insidental). Sampel penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas XI SMA Negeri 18 Bandung tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) hampir semua peserta didik kelas XI SMA Negeri 18 Bandung memiliki konsep diri positif artinya peserta didik memiliki penilaian diri dan penilaian diri berdasarkan pendapat orang lain secara positif dalam aspek fisik, psikis dan sikap; (2) hampir semua peserta didik kelas XI SMA Negeri 18 Bandung memiliki prestasi akademik tinggi artinya peserta didik menguasai seluruh kompetensi yakni pada tingkat kriteria minimum yang dipersyaratkan maupun melebihi yang diharapkan; (3) terdapat hubungan antara konsep diri dengan prestasi akademik, artinya konsep diri mempengaruhi prestasi akademik peserta didik, namun pengaruh konsep diri terhadap prestasi akademik sangat lemah artinya tidak selalu peserta didik dengan konsep diri positif memiliki prestasi akademik tinggi; dan (4) Impilkasi penelitian berupa rancangan layanan dasar bimbingan untuk mengembangkan konsep diri positif. Kata Kunci : konsep diri, prestasi akademik, bimbingan dan konseling. The research was motivated by assumption of some experts who state that there is a causal relationship between self-concept and academic achievement and some experts claim there is no causal relationship between self-concept and academic achievement. The research purpose was to find out significance of self-concept relationship with students’ academic achievement. The research approach used quantitative correlational study. To get sample,it is gained by incidental (sampling incidental). Sample of the research is students of XI SMA Negeri 18 Bandung school year 2014/2015. The results showed: (1) Almost all of students of XI SMA Negeri 18 Bandung has a positive self-concept, it means that students have self-assessment and self-assessment based on others’ opinion in a positive way in the physical, psychological, and attitudes aspect; (2) almost all of students of XI SMA Negeri 18 Bandung has high achievement, it means that students master all competences by passing the level of minimum criteria which is required and exceeded expectations; (3) there is a relationship between self-concept and academic achievement, it means that self-concept influences students’academic achievement, however the influence of self-concept towards academic achievement is very low, it means students with positive self-concept is not always having high academic achievement; and (4) Implication of the research is a basic service of guidance design to develop a positive self-concept.
