Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi Buku Sekolah Elektronik Bahasa Inggris untuk siswa di kalangan sekolah menengah kejuruan, khususnya untuk kelas sebelas semester satu. Buku Sekolah Elektronik yang dikenal dengan BSE adalah buku mata pelajaran yang disarankan oleh Menteri Pendidikan untuk sekolah yang sudah menerapkan Kurikulum 2013. Adapun evaluasi yang dimaksud meliputi: (1) isi buku; (2) kosa kata dan tata bahasa;(3) latihan soal dan susunan kegiatan; (4) pemilihan teks dan penampilan buku, dan; (5) kontek relevansi buku dengan kesesuaian kompetensi dasar dan kebutuhan guru dan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode evaluasi ceklis yang diadaptasi dari Miekley (2005) untuk menganalisa buku dan juga interview untuk memvalidasi data yang diperoleh. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara garis besar buku BSE Bahasa Inggris mempunyai kualifikasi bagus dalam aspek isi materi yang sesuai dengan kompetensi dasar kurikulum, kosa kata dan tata bahasa yang mencukupi, latihan soal dan susunan kegiatan yang variatif, cukup menarik secara fisik, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan guru dan siswa. Untuk itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa buku BSE Bahasa Inggris kelas XI semester satu yang dimaksud sesuai dengan tujuan kurikulum 2013 dan layak digunakan bagi sekolah yang menerapkannya. ---------- This study was intended to evaluate the student’s English Electronic Textbook (BSE) entitled BAHASA INGGRIS for eleven grade used in Vocational High School in Indonesia. The textbook was course book suggested by Ministry of Education and Culture to assist the implementation of Curriculum 2013. The evaluation based on basic competences on syllabus Curriculum 2013. The textbook evaluation in this study considered five criteria labelled as: (1) content; (2) vocabulary and grammar; (3) exercise and activity; (4) attractiveness of the text and physical make-up; and (5) context of the textbook in terms of material fitness with the basic competences, students and teachers need. This study used checklist evaluation through document analysis, and interview to collect data. The checklist was developed based on Miekley (2005) evaluative criteria. The study found that the textbook good developed based on basic competences of Curriculum 2013 in terms of content, vocabulary and grammar, exercise and activity, attractiveness of the text and physical make-up, and context. It means that the textbook was suitable to assist the curriculum and to be used by teacher and students in teaching learning activity.
