Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan pengaruh Inquiry Based Learning terhadap kemampuan penalaran dan kesadaran metakognitif siswa kelas VII pada materi Kalor. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu dengan rancangan non-equivalent post-test only control group design. Dua kelompok siswa kelas VII (n= 66) dilibatkan sebagai sampel penelitian, dimana kelas eksperimen menerima perlakuan berupa Inquiry Based Learning sementara kelompok lainnya bertindak sebagai kelas kontrol yang menerima proses pembelajaran sesuai dengan ketentuan kurikulum yang berlaku di sekolah tempat penelitian dilaksanakan. Data yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini adalah kemampuan penalaran siswa yang diperoleh dari hasil tes kemampuan penalaran dan kesadaran metakognitif yang diperoleh dari Junior Metacognitive Awareness (Jr. MAI). Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik parametrik, yaitu Independent t-test dan statistik nonparametrik, yaitu Mann-Whitney. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan penalaran yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol (t = 3,086; p< 0,025) dan juga terdapat perbedaan kesadaran metakognitif siswa yang signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol (U = 270,000; p< 0,025). Kelas eksperimen menunjukkan kemampuan penalaran dan kesadaran metakognitif yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. The aims of this study were analysed the effect of Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) on students’ reasoning ability and metacognitive awareness on heat subject material. The design of this study was quasi experimental with non-equivalent post test only control group design. Two groups of 7th grader were (n=66) were participated on this study. During 2 weeks study, one group recieve inquiry based learning, meanwhile the other group acted as control. Data of the study were collected by reasoning ability test and Junior Metacognitive Inventory (Jr. MAI). The students’ reasoning ability data were analysed using independent t-test, meanwhile students’ metacognitive awareness data were analysed using Mann-Withney test. Finding of the study indicate that IBL was effective on reasoning ability and metacognitive awareness (t = 3,086; p< 0,025), (U = 270,000; p< 0,025). Students which are taught with inquiry based learning showed a better reasoning ability and metacognitive awareness compared whith the students on control group.
