    Abstract

    Penelitianinidilatarbelakangiolehadanyapermasalahanyaiturendahnyakaraktermandiripesertadidikpadapembelajaran IPS di kelas VII-10 SMP Negeri 9 Bandung. Hal iniberdasarkantemuanpenelitipadakegiatanobservasiawal, penelitimemperolehgambaranmengenaipesertadidik yang kurangbertanggungjawabatastugas yang diberikan guru, kurangnyapersiapanpesertadidikdalammenerimapembelajaran di kelas, sepertitidakmembawabukupaket, bukucatatandanalattulis. Peserta didik yang kurang percaya diri dalam mengungkapkan pendapat sehingga aktivitas di kelas terlihat pasif. Oleh karena itu, peneliti berupaya mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dengan memanfaatkan media edmodo. Melalui edmodo guru membangun kelas virtual sebagai sarana membangun relasi yang baik melalui komunikasi privat antara guru dan siswa, dan mengemas tugas siswa dengan cara yang berbeda. PenelitianinimenggunakanmetodePenelitianTindakanKelas (PTK) model Kemmisdan Taggart. Penelitianinidilaksanakansebanyakempatsiklus, setiapsiklusmeliputiempatrangkaiantahapanyaituperencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi/pengamatandanrefleksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukanmelaluilembarobservasi guru, rubrikpenelitiansiswa, catatanlapangan, wawancaradengansiswadandokumentasi. Peningkatantersebutditunjukkanmelaluisemakinmembaiknyaaspek-aspekpadaindikator yang dijadikansebagai parameter kemandirianpesertadidik. Indikatortersebutmeliputimempersiapkandiridalammenerimapelajaran, tanggungjawabdandisiplin, berperilakuberdasarkaninisiatifsendiri, tekunterhadaptugas, danpercayadiri. Hasiltemuanpadasiklus I pesertadidikmasihdalam proses pembuatanakunedmodo, padasiklus II pesertadidiksudahmemilikiakunedmodonyamasing-masingdanbertanggungjawabsertadisiplinterhadaptugas yang diberikanmelalui media edmodo, padasiklus III ketekunansertakepedulianterhadaptugasmasing-masingmulaimembaik, padasiklus IV pesertadidiksudahbaikdalammengerjakantugasnya, mempersiapkandirinyauntukmengikutipembelajaransertapercayadiriselamakegiatanpembelajaran. Melaluihasilpenelitianinidapatdinyatakanbahwapemanfaatan media edmododalampembelajaran IPS dapatmeningkatkankaraktermandiripesertadidik.

    This study is conducted to be concerned with problems of the lack of an independent character of the learners in learning social studies in class VII-10 SMPN 9 Bandung. This is obtained through pre-observation where the researcher got some descriptions about the learners who are less responsible for the assignment teachers give, lack of preparation of learners in receiving learning in the classroom, for instances did not bring text book, note book and stationery. Learners who lack confidence in giving their opinions also make the class activities become passive. Thus, researcher tried to cope the problems by proposing the use of edmodo as a medium. Through edmodo, teacher built a virtual class as a means in holding a good relation for private communication between teacher and student, and organizing the students’ assignment in a different way. This study used Classroom Action research method with Kemmis and Taggart models. This research was conducted for four cycles; each of cycles includes four stages namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data were collected through teacher observation sheet, student’s research rubric, field notes, interview with students and documentation. This can be seen through the improvement of aspects of the indicator is used as a parameter of learners independence. That indicator includes the self-preparation in receiving the lesson, responsibility and discipline, behavior based on the self-initiative, be diligent toward the assignment, and confidence. The result reached at first circle was the learners were still in process of making Edmodo account, for second circles each learner have had their own Edmodo account, responsibility, and diligently toward the assignments that given through Edmodo, for the third circles the students’ diligence was better in doing the assignments, self- preparation to follow the lesson confidently as long as the learning process. Thus, through the results of this study, it can be stated that the use of Edmodo in learning social studies can improve the independent character of learners.
